Enemy Weapon Variety [WOTC]

Description
ADVENT engineers are reverse-engineering XCOM weapons and mass-producing them for their troops.

This mod adds more variety to the game by replacing some (but not all) ADVENT weapons with XCOM variants - allowing for a more divergent gameplay experience.

You might already know that most of XCOM 2's enemies have 3 versions;
1) a weak version (for early game "M1"),
2) a medium version ("M2")
3) and a strong version (late game, "M3").

With this mod, the tech level of weaponry that enemies use is dependent on their level. So as you play a game from start to finish, you will be able to visualize ADVENT's technological advancement over time:
1) Early-game enemies (M1) will use Conventional (Bullet) weapons,
2) Mid-game enemies (M2) will use Magnetic weapons
3) Late-game enemies (M3) will use Beam weapons.

--- Enemies that I *deliberately* did NOT include in this mod ---
Either because these enemies have unique weapons (or abilities that require a specific weapon), or because it just wouldn't make sense.

Bio Captains
Bio General (SMG Variant)
Advent Generals (Laser Variant)
Advent Honor Guards
Pathfinders
All Alien Variants (such as Mutons, Sectiods, Vipers, Archons)
Turrets
MECs
Sectopods
Advent Sniper
Advent Warlock
The Chosen
Advent Purifiers
Advent Psi Ops (Raptor, Wraith, Destroyer)
Sangheili Elites

This mod makes the game a little harder, because XCOM weapons do a bit more damage than ADVENT weapons.
If you have manually changed enemy loadouts in your INI files, this mod may not work on those enemies.
No Class overrides - it is strictly an INI edit mod.

Safe to enable or disable mid-campaign. If you are in a mission, changes will not take effect until next mission. For more divergent gameplay experiences, try using All Units have Unique Stats.

There is, but I don't know how. I think that could be accomplished with a re-texture of the base weapon skins. Or, a modder could create new weapons in the game and give them to them. I currently have no plans to do this myself, but someone else could.

anyway to make it so the weapons are black

Thanks for reporting, I will have to see what may be causing that.

I have a weird issue where enabling this without enabling ABA at the same time causes ADVENT Officers to become entirely weaponless. This is apparent as early as Gatecrasher.

I'll add that to my mod "Wish List" and see if I get around to it some time.

any chance on making this for ADVENT to Empire?

this is an interesting idea. While I agree with Valvatorez that it would be nice if they were custom models, I understand thats a lot more effort. Very cool mod!

Yeah, to be honest I've actually done these config edits 5 times already for myself (between updates and reinstalling the game over the years). This time I wanted to put it on an actual mod so I never have to edit the files again. (such a pain!)

I did something similar with the great WSR-Mod and a lot of config file maddness

Just pretend that Advent engineers reverse engineered's XCOM's weapons (which are superior) and began replicating them for their forces.
