Imperator: Invictus - More Cultural Names

More Cultural Names

Description

This is a mod for various strategy games, that makes province names change their name dynamically, to one that fits the culture of the faction that controls them.

In the common database (for all the supported games), there are currently over 180.000 names for various languages, themes and time periods.

The names are meant to provide an immersive and authentic experience for the game's setting and time period.
However, if there are no names for a specific language for this context, names from other time periods, or even from very closely related languages, will be used instead, as long as they make sense and are a good fit.

@Philipp Sir. not sure if there are any other mods that do this already, but in this mod we're only modifying place names, not person names or titles.

@Salată de Vinete Is there a way you can make all characters have just latin names (Ptolemaeus I Soter instead of Ptolemaios I Soter; Pyrrhus I instead of Pyrrhos)... ? Or is there some kind of "latinisation" mod?

@Autocrat this is a bug, I will fix it in the next version

Salernum is called "Irna" when Rome controls it.

PROV10_roman:0 "Irna"

should be:

PROV10_roman:0 "Salernum"

will there be a update for roman names in germania and greek names in iberia/gaul/britainia?

@Ozo it's complicated... latin names are missing for some provinces, this is why they don't change. In vanilla they do have latin names but they are not assigned to the roman culture, they are just the default localisations for those provinces which just happens to be in latin. This is why, once Rome conquers them, the name doesn't change since there is no name assigned for them.

Coverage is increasing update by update but it's a huge map and gaps are bound to come across.

Are Germanic provinces supposed to keep their Germanic names after Rome conquers them?

Should look into this. I've previously made Punic & Phoenician province names for Eu4 modding.
