Description
Aether's Blessing: Shimmer QoL

Aether's Blessing: Shimmer QoL is a small QoL/Content mod that centers around Shimmer and its Aether minibiome. Aether's Blessing introduces; an Aether pylon, the Mystic Compass, the Shimmer Well, the Genesis Conduit, a new tooltip, and a few new transmutations, each of which is detailed below;

Mystic Compass:
  • A special item sold by the Travelling Merchant after beating the Eye of Cthulhu
  • When used (It costs a lot of mana, so you'll have to raise your max), the Compass emits a beam that points towards the Aether
  • Makes tracking down the Aether a breeze; great for if you're struggling to find it on your own
  • Note that the Compass will fail if the Aether isn't present in the expected area (Same region defined by world-gen)
  • Includes config. options to customize the sell chance (Guaranteed by default) or allow the Compass to be sold pre-EoC

Aether Pylon:
  • A new pylon that - big surprise here - corresponds to and works exclusively in the Aether, granting quick access
  • Sold under standard Pylon conditions, while in the Aether
  • Only 1 nearby NPC is required for the pylon to function, as opposed to the normal 2
  • Includes config. options that makes the pylon sold under standard conditions and attainable from Shimmering pylons, and to customize nearby NPC requirements

Shimmer Well:
  • A special crafting station obtained by Shimmering any Water Fountain
  • Allows crafting item transmutations as an alternative to throwing items in Shimmer
  • Includes config. options to require the Shimmer Well to be in the Aether to function, or to disable its crafting ability entirely

Genesis Conduit:
  • Another unique crafting station obtained by Shimmering the Tinkerer's Workshop
  • Retains its previous crafting functionality, and provides a special, powerful effect;
  • While placed in the Aether, standing next to the Genesis Conduit improves the prefixes rolled by newly made items!
  • By default, the Conduit will prevent most prefixes with poor/negative stats
  • Includes config. options to fine tune what prefixes the Conduit rolls and/or otherwise restrict/adjust its power

New Transmutations:
  • Some shimmer-exclusive items can now be shimmered back into their original form (Ex: Vital Crystal to Life Crystal). This includes many permanent upgrade items, unsafe walls, ancient bricks, and biome chests
  • Obsidian can now be shimmered into Aetherium Blocks, allowing a renewable supply without needing an infinite source of Shimmer (which is post-ML)
  • All new transmutations can be toggled via. config.

Open Source
  • This mod is open-source under the GNU GPLv3 license. In short, you’re allowed to view and utilize code from the source if you’d like, but if you want to publish any work you did with it, that project will have to use the same license (GNU GPLv3). The mod's LICENSE file contains the full details of terms and conditions, etc.
  • You can access the source-code using tML's extract function (Found in-game on the mod's More Info page in your Mods List).

Localization
This mod inherently supports the English language, though I am unable to provide any other languages since that's the only one I'm fluent in. However, localization contributions on GitHub are welcomed and appreciated. Below is a list of supported languages so far:
  • English (Base)
  • Simplified Chinese (Contributed by Urgiv)
  • Russian (Contributed by Xenofite & alinahvoshch)
If you desire to contribute localization, please make a PR in the GitHub repository for my mods' .tmod files[github.com].

With Aether's Blessing, you'll find the Aether a more convenient and powerful (Maybe even overpowered) asset than ever before!

@Cotyora, you can add this mid-playthrough without issue, you'll just need to go back for the new items, but that's not a big issue since there are only a few and all the important ones are easily accessed once you've found the Aether.

Is this mod going to be appropriate for a Thorium mod and a continuing progress? Like what am I going to miss if I add this on my continuing gameplay?

@kvn_ybarra, that's would be just general content, whereas this mod is focused on QoL, so it seems out-of-scope to me. Also, I've never actually seen a mod do custom paint so I don't even know if you can do that with tML at the moment.
What would Aether paint look like, anyway? The lavender color that shimmer is?

I'm no builder so I can't really offer you any professional advice for your predicament, but I'd suggest experimenting with what blocks you're using. As you've seen for yourself, paint can't get you every kind of color/texture you want; that's why there's such a huge variety of building materials in the game.
On a related note, whenever we get 1.4.5, they're adding an Atherium Brick themed furniture set. That would suit your use-case perfectly. Atherium Bricks themselves already exist, of course, so you could try those.

Can you make Aether paint? Im trying to make houses for each biome but it seems theres no paint similar to the shimmer. if you're reading my comment please make this true:demoneye:

NOTICE: For anyone playing with WoTG and still encountering issues with tile corruption; I think I may have stumbled upon a solution;
According to this mod , apparently there is a music box in WoTG that only loads on client-side. This would indeed cause tile corruption in multiplayer as it would de-sync modded tile IDs.
Using the previously mentioned mod should fix the issue. I can't validate this information myself since I haven't encountered tile corruption issues with WoTG. Regardless, I wanted to share this just in case it does turn out to be useful to some of you.

@Aleph_Null, huh. I guess that's actually not too surprising since the same issue initially existed with vanilla items that have post-ML transmutations (Rod of Harmony, Terraformer, etc.).
I had to manually hard-code those to properly be exclusive to post-ML, so it's probably the same case with the Quintessence Clicker.
I think that should be a simple fix? I'm not sure if it being a modded item complicates resolving the issue or not.

Might be something worth correcting but i definitely have no plans to use it til i earn it.

I find it an interesting interaction that currently with Clicker Class on, the skimmer well allows you to make the Quintessence Clicker the moment you can get it… it’s normally only shimmerable from a wooden clicker post moon lord.

@MelonTheAnimator, that's the same issue that was recently reported in the comments below by tea lover and others. It appears to occur when playing in multiplayer with Wrath of The Gods enabled. I haven't been able to re-create it so that's all I know so far.
