Before I started creating skins, I used to paint calligraphy on canvases, walls and other surfaces, for a very long time. I decided to try doing this for CS2, as I spend a lot of time creating skins now and miss calligraphy.
When I created this skin, I imagined that I was drawing on a real weapon and tried to make it as similar to the real one as possible.
I didn't make a brush texture on the calligraphy, because paints for this purpose are very different. I like liquid refills so that the line is sharper.
On this skin, there are no words, I decided to just make the lines dynamic, emphasising the shapes of the weapons and conveying the dynamics. I also deliberately left not much empty space in the center so that the metal material was visible and did not overload it with the design.
In the gifs below, I have attached the process of creating two of my canvases using similar calligraphy inks as on the skin.
