Cultural Tribe Names

Description
All tribal realms will have cultural or dynastic names, just like the nomadic realms. When playing as a tribal nation you will remember what really matters - your people.

Finally, just as you typically see on educational maps, all the tribal nations beyond the frontiers of major civilization will be named after the Goths, Saxons, Frisians, Vandals, Bedouins, Slavs, etc instead of whatever modern city they happen to inhabit. Instead of rebranding whenever they conquer a higher title, they will carry their name with them.

The mod truly shines on The Fallen Eagle. Playing as or against the Barbarian Migrators is much more engaging when you see "the Merovingian Franks" instead of the "Duchy of Luxembourg." No more Vandals conquering Pannonia and then just calling themselves "Pannonia," almost making you forget the province even fell. Now they will be the King of the Vandals!

The developers went to great lengths to set up the up the minor tribal realms with dynasties named after the tribes of the region, so now you can even see the famous Chatti, Bavari, Batavi, Thervingi, Roxolani, and friends represented as political entities on the map, even though they aren't considered distinct cultures.

This mod works synergetically with Culture Expanded too, as it tends to split many tribal cultures.

Screenshots depict vanilla, Culture Expanded, and The Fallen Eagle.

This is really a great simple game change. I love how it really let's you as a Tribal ruler feel more a part of a larger cultural group rather than just place names.

@Tobi Unfortunately that issue is native to the game, it happens among nomads too when a dynasty is named after the culture and is not the culture head.

My men the name Mazowszan Masovians kind of doesn't make any sense I hope you're gonna translate it cause it's the equivalent of English Englishmen and also look at the location of Mazur Masovians I'm pretty sure they should be in the north instead of the south, but overall a pretty cool mod.

@PickleALibo If the mod changes the governments folder, it may cause an incompatibility. To make it work, open this mod's files, go to common -> governments, copy the code for tribal government, and paste it over the tribal government in your preferred mod's files.

Hello, thank you for this amazing mod. I’d like to report a compatibility issue: when I play Godherja with this mod, metropolis holdings become unavailable for administrative rulers.
@MarasGRG ye, with conversion u mean conversion cultural? If it - yes

Is this compatible with all total conversion mods? As in, does it work with Game of Thrones or Elder Kings?

@Cat_and_cat_inc: That only occurs with dynasties which are named after cultures, but are not culture heads. These dynasties are never randomly generated, and they usually are the culture head. Sometimes after game start, it takes a few months to update. This could be worked around by editing the names of those dynasties, but that could produce incompatibilities. I'm not sure how to edit the base names of the non-culture head tribes, I haven't been able to find the files.
