Bristol to Bath via Mangotsfield

Description
This is the first version of the Bristol to Bath line via mangotsfield which covers:

Bristol St Philips sidings
Bristol St Philips station
Lawrence Hill
1950’s Bristol temple meads
Dr Days sidings
Kingsland Road sidings
Bath Road engine sheds
St. Phillips Marsh Engine Shed
St. Phillips Marsh DMU Shed
St. Phillips Marsh Sidings
Barrow Road Engine Shed

You can only do shunting activities at the moment as there is no scenery beyond Lawrence hill and track has been removed to be reworked at Pyle Hill cutting off the Exeter line

History of the line:

The line was created in 1835 (6 years before the GWR) as a horse drawn tramway to bring coal into Bristol from the south Gloucestershire fields. In 1844 it was converted to double track Broad-gauge by Brunel and extended to Gloucester. In 1846 the Midland railway took over the line (although the line was well into GWR territory) and converted it to standard gauge and extended the line from Mangotsfield to Bath in 1869.

The line was not as direct as the GW line and had to deal with a 1in62 gradient lasting for approx. 2 miles the gradient would become easier when locomotives passed through fishponds station with the gradient easing to a 1in78 and reducing to 1in583 at Staple Hill the gradient to bath was a gentle 1in100 gradient. (If you want to test you skills on the gradient you can as the track is in place but there is little to no scenery as you go up or down).

Due to the development of road transport and the post war growth in car ownership the railway ceased to be viable and the Mangotsfield - Bath section closed to passengers & freight on 7th March 1966. The Bristol - Mangotsfield section closed on 3rd January 1970 for passengers and freight continued until 28th May 1971.

Locomotives that commonly used the line were the S&D's 2-8-0's, Fowler 4F's, Johnsons 0-4-4T's. Towards of the end black fives, Ivatt 2-6-2t's & 2-6-4t's, BR 6MT's & 9F's, Ex-LNER B1's and Stanier 8F's could be seen.

2nd May 1965 Ex-LMS 0-6-0 no.44264 hauled one of the last Railtours over the stretch of line and onto the Ex-SDJR to Bournemouth.

My version of the Bristol to Exeter route was bought many, many years ago from RSC.

Hi Xcelatron54. How are you? I have just completed my first scenario (now I can!), and really enjoyed myself on your route. It is a shame that to Publish, we have to wait for the route to be Final, as I could Publish a nicely finished off short one that people could enjoy now. I am going to contact DTG, to request the idea of having another situation to allow Publishing under certain 'guidelines' prior to Final, that would therefore promote the route - and in turn thank the author for all their hard work. It is possible you may never get the time to make it Final - which means it could be lost forever. Well done - and thank you sincerely for your efforts so far.

Any scenarios yet please? I saw Bristol's first Peak class 45 go through Mangotsfield D93, in the sixties. Keen to do any scenarios. My Dad worked near Kingswood Junction and Fishponds. I remember two school holiday trips as a teen, to the north via this route, to Yorkshire (up and over the 'Lickey'). Bristol T.M. on a summer Saturday was awesome!
