The Calne Branch Scenarios
8 items
Description
Opened on 29 October 1863 the Calne branch connects the towns of Chippenham and Calne with a 5 and a quarter mile branch line containing two intermediate stations: Stanley Bridge Halt and Black Dog Halt. Closing on 18 September 1965 being one of the last profitable branch lines in Wiltshire.

This route depicts the line in the 1950's when the line was still in good use and there were frequent services. There were many autocoach passenger trains and frequent freights of many varieties.

DLC IN ORDER OF NECESSITY: Falmouth Branch, Weerdale and Teesdale Network, MML London-Bford (only textures). Also please feel free to comment and upload scenarios.

Hi philip. Now I am experienced in my scenario making, I have just done a couple on the Calne Branch - in the winter to allow snow drifts to cover up the floating pointwork a bit. I really enjoyed creating them. My Dad worked at Westinghouse Brake & Signal, next to Chippenham station. If he did overtime on a Saturday morning I would go - and spend the morning watching, Castles, Westerns and Warships blasting their way through.

First upload (Swindon-Kemble) 1-2 months hopefully depending on time. Currently scenery extends just beyond Oaksey from Swindon however signalling has not been started and I anticipate this to be a major time consumer!

I understand. Swindon to Cheltenham. Wow. Great. Approx completion?

@Not.Silent Thankyou very much! Yes I might do the signalling and the Telegraph lines at some stage. I am currently working on Swindon-Gloucester-Cheltnham via Sapperton and Cirencester at the moment so this is a little bit of a second priority currently, however it has not been forgotten! The points are automatically placed when a junction is inserted and I think they cannot be saved to be at a different location although if I knew how to, I definately would have moved them!

Hi phillip. Your route and scenarios are great. I am thoroughly enjoying them. Now that it is possible to put GWR signalling in (like The Marlow Branch) - any chance of an upgrade one day. Also to make the route a little better, some of the point mechanisms seem to be floating, or slightly across the track, and some phone line wires cross over one another. Could you have the energy to edit these one day? Cheers. I used to enjoy Castles blasting through Chippenham at 80-90MPH!
