hey
this is my first hammer map that i've published to the workshop
hope it's swell

It's a test: like, as in, me learning how to use hammer and the basics. There's not much of a challenge.
Grab the cube, press the button, get the portal gun, and use the light bridge to hold the cube against the ceiling button. Then you can exit.

Apologies in advance for the clipping issues and other technical errors. I had NO idea what I was doing.

EDIT 9/10/18: Fixed catwalks not having clipping-- I accidentally used low-res versions.

I didn't even know what a func_clip_vphysics was when I made this... or that toolsclip is identical to playerclip in Portal 2.

This was meant as a test, a way to learn from my mistakes, but no, this map will not be updated. Every other map I release from now will be updated however. The reason this exact one will not be is because it's not really a test in the first place, just a demo room. About making it longer, my other maps will be longer and more dynamic, featuring more moving parts and transformation sequences.

It's cool, I'm not discouraged! Can't wait to start work on my next map, it will be far from orthodox in terms of mechanics and design.

Don't get me wrong, I am thankful that people are trying new things with maps. When you get an updated version just post here or send me the link and I will be sure to check it out.

It does seem tedious, this is all before I understood what an info_placement_helper was, or physics clipping. I might update the map once I have access to my computer again, but I've been on vacation for the past few weeks and will return shortly.

Yeah I got the same walway glitch - only seems to be in the area where placing the cube? It would be tedious to have to go up and down sevearl times to get the bridge to just the right place for the cube...

I'm sorry about your experience, thank you for the criticism. Made this before I understood much of anything in hammer, and I messed up on the models and the clip brushes. Also, the map suffers from large clipping issues. But I can promise you my next map will be leaps and bounds better than this one. Did you play through anyway? I'm still proud of the IO system and fake wall + elevator, and I'd like to hear opinions on those parts.

the walkway glitches and the box falls through when you try to set things up. So annoying I just skipped playing this one.
