Version 1.6.3.a Hotfix for "Cantiga"

Please note some changes will only take effect with new games.

  • Vassa decision now costs some prestige
  • Fixed Vassa decision preventing you from doing other activities if you took it earlier in the year
  • Added debug event as a way to manually resolve issues with endless activities as a last resort failsafe - console command is “event RICEdebug.0002”
  • Fixed Galician-Portuguese Lyric tradition being shown (but not pickable) anywhere on the map, instead of only in Iberia or for Iberian cultures
  • Fixed Coptic culture not getting the Children of the Nile tradition if running RICE with CE
  • Fixed Harran faith not being in Harran if running RICE with CE
  • Miscellaneous bugfixes and tweaks

  • Changed decision art for a couple East Asian related decisions
  • Siberian Survivalists and Swahili Contacts traditions are now added via scripted effect at game start to ensure better compatibility
  • White Hun tradition no longer is available when playing TFE start dates
  • Removed RICE’s version of Joseph ibn Naghrela and his family from the history files, since he has a vanilla version now (the Granada pogrom event chain remains and is functionally the same, however)
  • Tweaked starting traits of Joseph ibn Naghrela at game start
  • Fixed Pamiri culture overriding Hephthalite on the map in TFE and early start dates
  • Fixed decision to renovate Kassia’s tomb adding its related county modifier to Kharga instead of Rhodes

Version 1.6.2 "Wakhan"

The Wakhan Corridor is a mountain valley that lies between the Pamir and Hindu Kush mountain ranges. Since ancient times, this remote mountain pass has facilitated the movement of peoples, armies, ideas, and faiths across Eurasia.

Please note some changes will only take effect with new games.

  • Added Turco-Hephthalite culture as a hybrid of Hephthalite and Turkish, that appears on the map in 867 instead of the old Hephthalite culture, to clarify confusion arising from my previous usage of Hephthalite
  • Added Pamiri culture to the Iranian culture group
  • Added a new tradition, Beyond the Reach of Eagles, for the Pamiri, Burusho, and Peristani cultures
  • Modified Guanche content to fit vanilla’s implementation of the Guanche
  • Guanche paganism is now in a separate religion, Guanche, than the other Amazigh faiths (mainly to maintain compatibility)
  • Renamed vanilla’s North African religion to Guanche (to distinguish them from the Amazigh)
  • Pray for Blessings of Rain Rain and Benesmen Festival decisions now require the Guanche religion
  • Removed decision to Unite the Canary Islands, since vanilla has something similar; however, you will still get the relevant county modifiers via event
  • Rebalanced costs for most feast/festival type decisions
  • White Hun tradition is now added to the Hephthalites via scripted effect at game start to ensure better compatibility
  • White Hun tradition will no longer be added to the Hephthalites if playing with TFE or early start dates
  • Revamped a few decision art (thanks to PinkPanzer)
  • Activities are separated by flavor pack in different text files in the code
  • Fixed Ali ibn Asad starting off as a Seljuk vassal instead of being independent
  • Fixed Cichiciquitzo tradition requiring the unused Guanche heritage - it now requires being Guanche or descended from Guanche culture
  • Fixed White Huns and Xianbei Scions traditions being unavailable to Hephthalite and Tuyuhun/Qiang cultures respectively

  • Reinforcing Relations with Silk Road communities now also requires some prestige
  • Amount of gold gifted by Silk Road communities via random events is now much more randomized

  • If the Granada pogrom event chain happens as it did historically, the death reason for Jewish victims will now mention the mob
  • Removed the useless Galicia loc file that was there for some reason

Version 1.6.1 "Darro"
The Darro, a tributary of the Genil river, is one of the main rivers flowing through Granada. In the medieval period, it was noted for its gold deposits. It also supplied the famed Alhambra with water through a canal system known as the Acequia Real, or the Sultan’s Canal.
  • Added 2 generic flavor events for Granada
  • Added the Idol of Cadiz as a county modifier to Cadiz at the start of the game
  • Added decision to Demolish the Idol of Cadiz
  • Added some more German translations (credits to Dillo)
  • Added decision to Revive Gomati Monastery for Buddhists in Khotan, which will restore the 8 Protectors Modifier if Khotan had been previously taken over by a non-Buddhist
  • Added decision to Construct the Ordam Mazar for Muslims in the Tarim Basin, which will enable the Ordam Mazar decision from start dates before 1066
  • New minor flavor and narrative events for the first Muslim ruler of Khotan related to the above
  • Qanat innovation is now available and given to various Middle Eastern cultures in TFE as appropriate
  • Decision to Relocate from Ilbira to Granada now only requires Illustrious rather than Exalted Among Men level of prestige
  • Changed event noise for some beach backgrounds
  • Fixed Stage Animal Fight decision not being available to cultures that are of Tocharian heritage but not Tocharian culture
  • Fixed some missing Evenk name localization, especially in non-English language versions of the game

  • Achamanism (Guanche Paganism) and Dezawism now have the Cthonic Redoubts tenet instead of Sanctity of Nature
  • Benesmen Festival and Pray for Blessings of Rain decisions now require following a faith of the Amazigh religion that has the Cthonic Redoubts tenet (this is a workaround for the bug where these decisions are unavailable to reformed Guanche paganism, due to not being able to scope to reformed faiths including Guanche paganism)
  • Samanid vassals in Badakhshan start with the religious rights protected contract
  • If playing as Thabit ibn Qura, the Harranian pagan in 867 CE, you now start with the jizya contract with your liege
  • Renamed Persian Jewish culture to Parsim
  • Fixed Munya decision not being cheaper after building the Generalife structure in the Alhambra
  • Fixed the peaceful resolution to the Granada pogrom event chain not granting Granada the proper county modifier as a reward

  • Added Granada Flavor Pack: Memories of the Alhambra
  • Added 3 Spanish guitar and 5 medieval Iberian themed soundtracks
  • Added new “No Vocal” option in the music game rule to disable vocal music (but keep ambient or instrumental music)
  • Removed Mizrahi culture and replaced it with new Jewish cultures based on feedback: Mustarabi, Teimani, Persian Jews (please note this is WILL be subject to change in the future, this is just a baseline to work on)
  • Starting gold, prestige, and piety of many new rulers added in RICE are now slightly more randomized at game start for some variety
  • Cooldown for various feast decisions in RICE will now be shorter if your culture has the Frequent Festivities tradition (this was previously not accounted for)
  • Fixed Spectate the Stamford Bull Run decision not having a cooldown

Version 1.5.6 "Zhai Fengda"

Zhai Fengda was a famed 10th century scholar who served as a prominent official under the Cao Dynasty of Dunhuang. The quote comes from one of his poems; when he apparently rediscovered the manuscript as an older man, he jotted the above line as commentary.


  • Added Turkshahi/Nandin dynasty tamga as their coat of arms
  • Added additional Evenki names, courtesy of Nix
  • Assyrians now have a small change of appearing from Middle Eastern Silk Road Communities
  • All activities will now automatically expire after some time in case of weird situations where they don’t end
  • Decision to Stage Animal Fights is now available for Tocharian heritage in general or if your capital has a culture of Tocharian heritage (so you don’t need to be descended from Tocharian culture)
  • Mogao Cave Decision can now be taken by anyone whose liege or top liege controls the county of Guazhou (aka Dunhuang)
  • Silk Road Community decision can now be taken in Mesopotamia
  • Steppe and Himalayan community troops now focus on cavalry vs infantry, instead of a mix of both, to provide distinct differences
  • Reduced renown gain across the board for various decisions/interactions/events/etc.
  • Reduced number of troops gained from various SIlk Road community decisions/events
  • Reduced chances of getting large gift of troops from Silk Road community events
  • Reduced chances AI will take the Silk Road Communities decision
  • Reduced chances Silk Road communities will give gifts via event
  • Fixed the Silk Road Communities decision so AI won't always pick East Asians
  • Fixed Diverse Peoples and Cultures dynasty perk reducing instead of increasing the chances of getting gifts from Silk Road Communities
  • Fixed several titular/formable kingdoms/empires missing de jure capitals
