Very nice puzzle, but I had trouble with the last jump. I kept hitting the clear barrier on the way to the door.

I liked the puzzles in the map, but I wasn't able to complete it because of the trick with the blue cube . I finally had to look at the walkthrough to see how it was done.

Nice test chamber, it was fairly challenging and took me some time to figure out the solution, never seen a cube used that way lol. Had to be fast to get the sphere to the last room, but it was possible, and i dont think you should make it easier, otherwise it would be too easy.

Btw here's a very late apologize for being mad at you for criticizing my map, i was probably in a bad mood or something, so sorry about that :)

just a walkthrough on this level if you get stuck, and wanna cheat it.
Scrublord 19 May, 2013 @ 7:05am
Not sure if this was what you intended, but I used the blue Frankencube to jump up to the ledge of the laser grid and linked a portal to the next room. On this note, the blue Frankencube is very annoying to use as a bounce pedestal considering the fact that your character can barely jump up to his height, causing more frustration than anything else. It is a clever map though, no denying that.

Nice to see that other people make puzzles where you have to bounce on a blue franken cube
I made a map just about that a long time ago:

Exerlent map with a nice challenging puzzle. Good to see old crabbi up to his old antics =-)
wildgoosespeeder 29 Oct, 2012 @ 4:53pm
It's an OK map with a few frustrations and layout problems. Moving things around to notice where indicator lights go, better positioning of objects such as the sphere dropper, making the cube fling a little bit more delayed, after the cube fling can have it go back through the portal it came out of, and blue-covered frankencube are just a few frustrating parts that need fixing.

Great map my friend. So many interesting things. Looks great too.
srs bsnss 10 Oct, 2012 @ 11:22pm
I quite enjoyed this one - the cube trick was quite clever. However, it was a little hard to judge it right which resulted in my death and a chamber restart. You could use BEEMOD to add autosave points, I think that that'd be rather useful for this one.

But all in all, a really great chamber. Nice work.

Hi!

Thank you for your comments on ADI'S maps. ADI'S 1080 will be ready soon.

I like this map too, it really is clever. But a bit diffult for me :D

@Zomby Woof:

Wow. Thanks, mate. Maybe you can still discover new aspects in my new chamber(s). Feel free to check out the collection!

Let me remind all of you of my new chamber, "Shortage", in case you wanna test:

SloppyPlatypus  [author] 10 Oct, 2012 @ 7:28am
@mood3rd:

Thanks very much, dude, I'll test your chamber asap.

@Mr.Johno:

Thanks very much, I'll check the mod but at the moment I guess you know you can save with F6 and load with F7. As I said before, there was no need to time the sphere, you can just let it go from your hands with the portals already placed. How? I invite you to find out, or if you want to know without retesting just ask.

@HMW:

Thank you very much, mate. If the chamber has improved in some way it is 'cause I followed good advice. Thanks a lot for the info about the glass behaviour, I won't forget it because I'm gonna need it in the future and not knowing it made my designing poorer and more complicated. I'll try keeping the standard at least, improving if possible. And there's no need to time the sphere! :)

SloppyPlatypus  [author] 10 Oct, 2012 @ 7:27am
@ Prof. Zark:

Thank you and sorry about the portals in the third room, I wanted to add a little bit of skill in that part. About timing the sphere, there's no need to do that and, in fact, I placed the portals in such a way that timing it looked like the more obvious solution, but there's another way of doing it. Just try again or ask if you wanna know.

@ColorCubeMan:

Thanks, I found it funny too :) If any lambda player tests my chambers I hope he'll end up being an epsilon one :)

@Seji-Evan:

I really appreciate that. Agreed it's not the most natural move, just wanted to use the blue Franken cube making it known to as many testers as possible. My new chamber, Shortage, is absolutely natural (or so I think).

Zomby Woof 10 Oct, 2012 @ 1:18am
This is very clever. And yet again I discover an aspect of Portal 2 which I had no idea was possible.
HMW 8 Oct, 2012 @ 8:03am
This is much better! That whole central area feels less cramped now, and you no longer have to jump over the laser field.
(For the record, you can extend a glass panel over a fizzler or laser field, as long as it's attached to the block above it, and facing down. But your solution is better, so don't bother.)

The lighting has also improved a lot, and I like the slightly a-symmetrical placement of the windows. Good job!

@Mr.Johno: you can give yourself a bit more time if you exploit the special rolling powers of the edgeless safety cube ;)
Mr.Johno 8 Oct, 2012 @ 6:29am
This map is pretty good, but it could sure use some autosave points. Check out the BEEMOD if you don't use hammer. timing that sphere was pretty tight too, can you move the portal panel over one?
mood3rd 7 Oct, 2012 @ 11:52am
good map.
interesting use of franking cube.
how to use repultion gel, stumped me, for a while.
I have a map where the franking cube is also essential.
please let me know what you think. #F4F

Sejievan 7 Oct, 2012 @ 10:27am
It's a good map, i liked the use of the gel in the franken cube, the only problem for me was that i felt the jump a little Unnatural (even knowing that the jump in the cube is possible), and made me feel that i was cheating the game somehow , but leaving this in the side, the map itself is very cool, and the idea in general are original and very enjoyable, keep up the good work dude =).
pythonzen 6 Oct, 2012 @ 5:14am
I like the idea. But the blue cube can easily look like a glitch for a lambda player. It's funny though.
Lumina Rose 4 Oct, 2012 @ 7:17pm
The only part of the chamber I found awkward was timing the sphere landing on the aerial faith plate, and placing the portals in the third room.
Lumina Rose 4 Oct, 2012 @ 4:13pm
Good Chamber interesting use of a blue frankencube

@ Timoteeei:

Thanks again for cheking for unintended solutions and posting the video (this time I was able to watch it). The chamber has been updated to remove that solution.
Timoteeei 4 Oct, 2012 @ 1:57pm
not all obvious solution, just a final move
Timoteeei 4 Oct, 2012 @ 1:56pm
oh.... it is sad that you could not watch my demo's, but i made a video about unintended solution, without usage of blue gel ;) it is here [dl.dropbox.com]
SloppyPlatypus  [author] 4 Oct, 2012 @ 11:22am
...that maybe the Franken cube dreams of electric sheep, but maybe at the same time it has seen things we people wouldn't believe: attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion; c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate... and maybe all those moments will be lost in time when the Franken cube dies... what I'm saying is that maybe the Franken cube (as its name let us guess) is... ALIVE!!!

... Or maybe it is a bug I exploited, yeah (I most definitely shouldn't have watched Prometheus).

So, in my next chamber (coming soon), there'll be no bugs-exploiting and everything will be orthodox.

Again, thank you for your input and time!

PS: If anyone is interested, I am selling these leather jackets and a pair of high quality beams...

SloppyPlatypus  [author] 4 Oct, 2012 @ 11:21am
And now, about a controversial topic. You say my puzzle may take advantage of what appears to be a bug in the game, which is the fact that the blue Franken cube is not bouncy. But maybe, and I'm just saying maybe, it is not a bug; maybe it has a deeper meaning. I mean, every object bounces when hit by repulsion gel. But, we testers can bounce when we jump or walk on repulsion gel but we don't get bouncy when hit by it. The Franken cube has an intermediate behaviour, he doesn't get bouncy but becomes a source of bounciness. Why this intermediate behaviour? Well, what I am suggesting is...

SloppyPlatypus  [author] 4 Oct, 2012 @ 11:20am
The problem is the glass panel Aperture Science developed is not A quality (I think it is made in Earth Two or Three) and, as soon as it touches the laser fields, it melts, so the editor starts pouring those red, jumpy, name-saying symbols everywhere. So, I couldn't modify the lenght without affecting the time testers would have to wait for the Franken cube, but I could still modify the depth or the width. I decided on the width because of solid considerations, one of which (and not the minor of them) was that it could be done just by touching "+" twice. I hope you enjoy the final output (please do let me know, as also about the new lightning)...

@HMW:

Thanks for testing and for taking the time to write and suggest, I really feel honored. As you said, this is indeed my first chamber. I added some more lights and removed the decorative funnels; I didn't really like them but they were a present from my aunt Casilda. She's not really my aunt to be honest, she is my uncle Hermenegildo's wife. I know she bought them in IKEA but my mother pushed me to use them; anyway, she doesn't come here often so she won't notice they're not there anymore. About the lenght of the glass panel, well, it used to be longer this morning, before I changed it because testers complained (and they were full of reason) that they had to wait too long for the Franken cube...

HMW 4 Oct, 2012 @ 8:17am
Hmm... Giving this a tentative thumbs up. I generally don't like puzzles that take advantage of what appears to be a bug in the game itself. (Referring to how the frankencube reacts to being painted.) However, it's nicely put together, especially since it's your first, as I understand.

The lighting in the first and second rooms can be improved IMO. It may be enough to add a small observation window to each room. Or remove the decorational funnels from the side windows and add light panels in the wall there. I think that would look nice!

I also agree with tmast98, that the area around the bridge / gate could use some more walking space. Just extending the glass panel one block in each direction should be enough. (You can make a glass panel as big as you want, just as long as it is attached to at least one solid block.)
SloppyPlatypus  [author] 4 Oct, 2012 @ 1:46am
UPDATE: Added changes suggested by Timoteeei, tmast98 and AD_79.
SloppyPlatypus  [author] 4 Oct, 2012 @ 12:39am
@tmast98:

I will change the bridges so that you won't get trapped (I'll leave just one). I didn't connect the floating block on purpose, thinking it would look cool, but if it looks so unrealistic it will be connected immediately!

@AD_79:

Yes it was, "Bounce", and it is credited in my chamber's description. As I said to @tmast98, the floating block will be connected (although Aperture Science can create this device and many other weird things like the Franken cube or Wheatley itself :) )

Again, thank you very much guys!
SloppyPlatypus  [author] 4 Oct, 2012 @ 12:39am
Thank you guys for the feedback!

@Timoteeei:

I know how to run .dem files (ever since Mothalius taught me, like two days ago) but I can't open yours, they both load like for 0'2 seconds and then nothing happens, and in one of them the game crashes after I get an error message: "Bad inline model number 1". Could you please save the videos and send them to me again? And about shortening the wait for the cube and ball (and the chance of getting trapped) by using just one light bridge, I will most certainly change it.
Manifest Breastiny 3 Oct, 2012 @ 5:32pm
Nice use of the frankenturret! That must have been inspired by one of Mothalius's maps.
The only thing I didn't like was the floating block with the faith plate. Unless Aperture has created some kind of device that allows things to float in the air, I suggest you connect that to another part of the chamber. Thumbs up!
Timoteeei 3 Oct, 2012 @ 8:19am
I also figure out the intended solution but i realy don't like to wait of cube and sphere =P
Timoteeei 3 Oct, 2012 @ 8:14am
Here is the my first run and the unintended solution, which is no so easy to perform but possible

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/80055148/Underdog_testing.rar (Hope you know how to run *.dem files ;)

I like the concept but would like to see version with the shorter way for Franken and edgeless cubes. May be you could cut it to the one "gate" - it will also reduce the risk of getting stuck of cubes in this way. (I have one of this situation and i don't like to start all over again)

This is just my opinion and you decide to follow my advice or not =)
SloppyPlatypus  [author] 3 Oct, 2012 @ 6:01am
@Lpfreaky90:

Thanks for playing and for the feedback. You skipped as much as you could which is the same thing I would have done :) I'll try and correct everything so that it can't be solved your way. Thanks again!

EDIT: Updated to remove that solution.

Rather easy map, the hermid cube was a bit annoying, but I managed to survive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYPGSluP2pM&feature=youtu.be
