I loved the other maps in the series, but if I could give this one a double thumbs-down I would! There are no cues as to what order things need to be done in. To say it's "hard" is an understatement! I made it to the point where I needed to get the cube into the funnels, but the damned thing wouldn't bounce correctly for me! I finally watched the walkthrough, and thought "no f'ing way!" Like others have said, this is more like work and not at all fun.

Basically I love complex chambers that combine a lot and demand even a little backtracking. But this one is just exausting and gives the player different opportunities here and there so he (I ^^) doesn't know what to do when and if it's correctly combined. For example, I didn't get the small room with the three funnels; so I managed another way to get a blue beam out of that room without losing portals.
The path just isn't clearly structured, sadly. Other than that it's a well done difficulty level.

The logic was awesome. Nice chamber.
Petutski 9 Jan, 2017 @ 11:01pm
Amazing complex, yet logical map! I suspect there are lots of ways to solve this one. Thanks!

Had to find the altitude, but FINALLY got it. These tests were GREAT!
Fanatrila 27 May, 2016 @ 3:20am
the test was kinda tricky but that's what I love :) nice tests, all of the binary labs
Griffin 29 Jan, 2016 @ 9:20pm
loved every test! great work!!

Very nice map. Good work!!!

You sly jerk.

I was ONE step away from beating this gloriously insane chamber and I had to look up your walkthrough to see why I can't reach that damned taunting exit. That's when I has realized the inane difference in speed between orange gel momentum and falling momentum.

Thumb up, good sir.
amQel 28 Dec, 2014 @ 5:52am
nice chamber :) preety hard, but lots of unintended :) still good one!
Tyr Anasazi 19 May, 2014 @ 2:24pm
OMG that was tricky. Lots of cube/ball swapping, took quite a while to get my head wrapped around that. Very nice map.
Ax2u 8 Sep, 2013 @ 5:24am
Now that I watched the walkthrough I realised I did a lot of things differently. For example, I used orange gel + blue gel at the end
Ax2u 8 Sep, 2013 @ 5:13am
That was AMAZING. Best map I've ever played. It's kinda ironic though how you need to sacrifice your companion cube multiple times.
CORTO MALTESE 14 Jul, 2013 @ 9:21am
Congratulation for your excellent work.
Muaziz 30 May, 2013 @ 8:40am
Excellent overall. One thing that gave me trouble after getting the Companion Cube into the second room was figuring out what to do next. The order of things is far from obvious until you get past that second step.
cemulate 24 May, 2013 @ 2:41pm
I didn't use the orange gel, instead I simply kept a portal in the first room, put the other portal under the button, went through the portal to the first room, then moved the portal in the first room down into the pit and launched up through the floor of the other room to hit the button

There's a small gap in the corner of the glass hall between the first and second rooms. From the inside, it faces the sometimes-angled panel above the water. It matters because I was able to re-enter the first room without destroying the companion cube by shooting through the gap from the second room to place a portal in the first room. Made it easier to get the blue gel, too.

Also, I didn't need the hard light bridge. As long as there's a cube on the button to raise the angled panel, it's possible to jump to it. I don't think that provided any shortcuts, though.

As an addition to my previous post...

Yep, definitely did the blue gel+cube as intended but I took a weird way of getting there....I wound up taking it outside of the first room instead of bridging the two with portals. It worked but was harder...
Also, needing to switch those 2 boxes near the beginning was evil!

bartlejuice 10 Dec, 2012 @ 11:00am
Well, nice work!
The other 9 chambers were moderate...this one had me confused for quite a while.
I did not watch the hint video(s), but with that said I don't think I went through everything in the proper order...

I think I did the blue gel+cube as intended, but reading the other comments I probably backtracked a few times. Very satisfying to solve. Going to watch the videos now to see what I could have done better ;p

I designed all my levels to be as fair as possible to the player. While coming up with your own solutions is awesome, it's a bit cheap to design a puzzle where the only solution is hidden away in a separate area. But I definitely like your solution though! :)

Thanks for the suggestion.
|TC|Loobitch 6 Dec, 2012 @ 10:06am
Lol. I just used the speed gained by jumping down in the first room. I guess it was harder than using the orange gel. Maybe you can remove it to make the level even harder? ;)
NyanNyanKoneko  [author] 5 Dec, 2012 @ 4:26pm
The orange gel was to reach the button on the roof of the area near the orange gel dropper. :)
|TC|Loobitch 5 Dec, 2012 @ 4:59am
Oh boy... I've never been so satisfied with completing a level. Amazing chamber! It took me probably about an hour, but I finally did it and now I'm extremely happy ^^ Any chances of more that difficult chambers?

BTW, I haven't used the orange gel at all... What it is for?
Audiodef 12 Nov, 2012 @ 2:17pm
This is the first community chamber I had to give up on and watch the play-through. I watched it three times, because I would stop it and try to proceed from there. But in the end, the chamber got me. Excellent challenge. I'll come back to it later when I've forgotten the solution and try it again.
Wolf bytes 4 Nov, 2012 @ 6:41pm
Wow... That was hard. I don't think I would have got it without the video hints....
Very nicely done. :)
This is now one of my favorite maps!
Captn Gore 3 Nov, 2012 @ 8:54pm
This was an awesome map pack, beautifull maps and crazy puzzles ! Took me quite a while to figure out chamber 10 :) Nice work

Good stuff. Completed it on my own and feel pretty dang proud of myself.:) Lots of trial and error of course, simply because there is so much going on in the middle parts you are unsure of the step sequencing. The last step was very satisfying.
BUTT Jay 30 Oct, 2012 @ 3:42pm
I don't know if I'm just stupid, but I can't seem to get anywhere on this level. I love the rest of the collection because it was challenging without being impossible. But this is too much for my feeble mind.
Kenoz02 29 Oct, 2012 @ 7:08am
J'ai réussi à finir ce niveau, mais je n'ai pas utilisé la même méthode que vous.
C'est le niveau le plus difficile que j'ai fait, BRAVO !!

(IC) Greedo 2 27 Oct, 2012 @ 9:07pm
This one is too difficult for my taste. I got as far as the red gel before I gave up and watched the video. Even after watching it, I decided that the whole thing seemed more like work than fun, so I called it a night without finishing it myself.

Even though it's not my kind of puzzle, I know this is the kind of thing a zillion players do want, so I give a thumbs up for all the hard work and playtesting that you must have gone through to create this map. The collection as a whole was very good. Thanks!
yinnah 26 Oct, 2012 @ 6:43pm
I solved the puzzle without getting a cube in the 3-beam room. I still don't know how to do that, though! Fantastic puzzle, really kept me thinking. And I disagree with Instantiation, if you arrive at puzzle #10 after playing the other 9, you should know to expect a difficult problem.
IridescentShadow 26 Oct, 2012 @ 1:41pm
This map was intimidating at first, particularly moving the companion cube past the fizzler and getting it into the triple funnels . I'm not sure I blocked the laser as intended, but I was able to get it to work on the third try. Overall, very nice job on some head-scratchers.
Instantiation 26 Oct, 2012 @ 10:37am
This is a fairly difficult map, as you say. I needed to see the walkthrough. A few things are hard to notice/figure out, and I think you could (but not necessarily should) simplify a few steps. But I like the true solution well enough. Particularly the two upper areas .

Part of the problem is that it starts at a really high difficulty, eases off a little, gets crazy again (when you need the blue gel), and then roughly levels off at a slightly easier difficulty. Then the map shines. But starting is hard. Maybe just add some numbers or signage Portal 1 style? Might even need to touch up the map in Hammer. (But that might conflict with the mod? *Shrug* If you do nothing, that's okay, the hardcore players should still be thrilled.)
blinkpen 25 Oct, 2012 @ 1:35am
Fuck it. I give up. I cant do it. I been trying for hours. I am way too stupid to solve this.
PsychoBR 24 Oct, 2012 @ 3:12pm
Great map. Very hard, but genial.

Great Job. Fantastic map :-)
LPChip 24 Oct, 2012 @ 1:25pm
Damn, this is really too hard for my cup of tea...
SkyRoots 23 Oct, 2012 @ 11:08pm
That. Was. Incredible. The setting up of the very last two portals was the toughest part! BTW, I was able to get the cube into the triple blue tractor beam room without using the blue gel ...(basketball anyone?)
DKT 23 Oct, 2012 @ 11:40am
Finally completed it. I don't know how I did it, but did. I don't know how very small splatters of blue gel got so much further in the end, but that made the difference.

One of the hardest and interesting map I've played in a while.
Robolovsky 23 Oct, 2012 @ 10:38am
Very intricate but ultimately satisfying. Brilliantly thought out!
Jurgie 23 Oct, 2012 @ 8:34am
I have liked all these maps very much! I have to say though, some were insanely difficult!
Clericopter 22 Oct, 2012 @ 10:20pm
This was a perfect end to the series. The design is amazing, I love how the sub-chambers stay relevant throughout the entire puzzle.
cyron43 22 Oct, 2012 @ 7:15am
I have just watched the video and all I can say is "insane"! o_O
electricfate 22 Oct, 2012 @ 4:19am
This is a nice map, well done!
I have just a small problem my friend found that allowed him to skip a step, I will put it below in spoiler text. Please don't read unless you have finished the map!
My friend was able to skip a step, this step being the part where you put blue goo on a cube, then bounce it into the room with three blue tractor beams/funnels (through the laser field). What he did was that he placed portals underneath the tractor beams/funnels such that they were layered on top each other. This allowed him to ascend upwards, then he shot the angled white wall next to where the sphere drops. Somehow from this he finished the map without ever bouncing a blue goo covered cube off that angled wall. In order to fix this, just remove the white panels underneath two of the tractor beams/funnels so that there is only white under one of them. This still allows you to complete then next step while stopping this game bug. Thanks for reading and thanks for the map!
UBERzogen 21 Oct, 2012 @ 2:05pm
In my opinion there should be a hint on the very first step. I was almost giving up when it made "click" in my brain.
oldstancher 20 Oct, 2012 @ 4:37pm
My head hurts and I kind of want to punch something, but I beat the dang thing. Nice work!
NyanNyanKoneko  [author] 19 Oct, 2012 @ 8:29pm
Yeah, I tried to make this one really intersting for the final chamber. Thanks.
wildgoosespeeder 19 Oct, 2012 @ 7:24pm
I don't know about hard, I say about medium.

This is the best "Binary Labs" chamber. A great finale!
