Hot damn, these puzzles are getting REALLY good. Easily your best “yet”. (By that I mean this was probably your best map when you first published it.) (Edit from future me: I still think this is my favorite map of yours ngl…) Very hard and incredibly clever all the way throughout. You’re gonna need some IQ to solve this one without any hints.

I was tempted to cheat to bring the cube to the middle area with the two buttons via using the funnel and holding it low so it didn’t touch the low fizzler , and I actually did do that at one point, but said no and found what’s more likely to be the intended solution eventually.

Thumbs up and fav.

Good one.

Very difficult puzzle for me, there are a lot of options which makes it hard to find the right one. I think I had 2 or 3 epiphany moments where I had to try something totally different to make progress. Overall it was very satisfying to finally complete

good puzzle little bit complicated

OK, this map has exploits, but I still love what I think was the intended solution. Anyway, another one my list done :)

Wow, I had to think on that one. Great map and a good challenge :steamhappy:

Just about to play @Gigopler’s ‘Couloir Remake’ and I thought I’d look back at this, still brilliant, original version which I played a year ago. Looking at the comments, I’m not sure if I, or others (I haven’t worked out how to play ‘.dem’ files!), did it by the intended method; so the following is a spoiler YouTube video of the method I used intended? @Gigopler; if you get a mo, please have a look and let me/us know ;)
bobdugan_2000 7 Dec, 2017 @ 9:49pm
Holy crap that was hard. Brilliant!
bullfrog 27 May, 2017 @ 1:06am
.... and an easier, and probably more as intended way to do move 2 is: again from the middle platform stood on the lower grating, shoot portal up at the funnel so the cube (which is now on the middle platform from move 1) funnels AWAY from the funnel room, then stroll up and stand on funnel reverse button and grab the cube as it passes by you, as opposed to grabbing it as it passes over your head. Already thumbs up; now also added to favourites for the 'intended'(?) solution :)
bullfrog 27 May, 2017 @ 12:40am
... both move 1 and 2 below start with the funnel room fizzler deactivated i.e. neither make use of the uninteded(?) small gap at the top of the funnel room fizzler
bullfrog 26 May, 2017 @ 2:47am
Brilliant puzzle. Ignoring what I believe to be an unintended solution(s?), it took me a long time to work out the intended solution, which I assume includes these two moves: 1: from middle (X and Square sign button) platform, whilst stood on the lower grating, shoot portal up at funnel so the cube funnels towards you, then quickly go up and stand on the X button to deactivate fizzler so cube passes thro then move and grab it. 2: Next, again from the middle platform stood on the lower grating, shoot portal up at funnel so cube funnels towards funnel room and grab the cube as it passes over your head before hitting the fizzler. I’d love to know for sure if this is the intended solution.

well i got about 50% by myself. not very good but, great chamber.
dire.fcs 17 Dec, 2015 @ 8:44pm
Nice one (never used the flip panel on the wall neither its respective button), really nice work with funnel.
wildgoosespeeder 1 Jan, 2015 @ 10:35pm
Now I feel really dumb after watching | \_/ ()'s replay (by the way, there is an easier way to get the laser cube near the two buttons that aren't dot-symboled , which I think the method I found was intended, so a deeper trench and more stretched fizzler is needed to block your solution). After being able to get the cube over to those buttons , I think the problem is that the symbols make things hard to visualize. I often got confused what symboled button activated what because of the skewed vision. I also don't get why part of the closest fizzler gets disabled with one button and the other part gets disabled with the other button. The top two fizzlers being disabled don't make any sense. Also a ceiling portal surface? What's that about? Also getting the funnel to stay reversed and getting under the cube dropper was a more appealing attempt. That's where I gave up to cheat using Adept's solution as mentioned before.

Here's a demo of the (hopefully) intended sollution: https://www.dropbox.com/s/a3nt7mgr2mypoea/couloir2.dem?dl=0
wildgoosespeeder 30 Dec, 2014 @ 7:11pm
I couldn't solve this on my own because outsmart fizzler tests I suck at and there must be an obscure trick I am missing. I got the reverse funnel redirected while being under the cube dropper. That's as far as I got without help, assuming I am even doing the right thing. Based on Adept's (AgentFire) playthrough I had to see, I can still exploit the map in the same way just being more clever and "edgy" portal placements. I need an intended solution video or *.dem from Gig or someone that didn't exploit it (maybe | \_/ () based on his comments). Also head The Truth's advice!

I liked this map as well as description for it

Edit: Fixed a few unintended solutions.
| \_/ () 22 Dec, 2013 @ 3:48am
probably the hardest chamber I've ever beaten without help from youtube. I'm feeling so smart :) I'm also pleased I've beaten this map the intended way (with the X-marked flip panel) - no portalling over the fizzler, which is near the funel, no grabbing the cube through the grate, using no glitches at all ! XD
Cave Johnson 30 Jul, 2013 @ 10:36am
you can shoot a portal to the funnel through the small gap in the fizzler from the bottom area, saved me a few steps
kimist108 20 May, 2013 @ 8:22pm
Well, I got to the exit. Have a feeling it was not the intended way. Cause I didn't use the x button.
KennKong 13 Feb, 2013 @ 8:08pm
I found 2 more solutions , one of which I'm certain is not intended, and the other I'm not too sure about either. I have in mind a fourth solution, which uses more of the elements in the map, so there may be more to come.
KennKong 11 Feb, 2013 @ 11:32am
It sounds like I found the same Exploit as Juggler. Eventually, the intended solution will come to me.
keithjgrant 2 Feb, 2013 @ 12:02pm
Very challenging map. Had to sleep on it to solve. I like it.

Not sure my solution was the intended... I never needed the top portion of the fizzler to open (though I did use that button to reverse the funnel). Not entirely sure I ever needed the bottom portion open, either, but I could be mis-remembering that.

I funnelled myself through a portal to over near the exit. The cube was over on the grate near the funnel generator. I placed a portal high up on the wall, which pushed the cube through a fizzler on the other end of the map, making a new one respawn. Then, standing on the X button, I funnel-strafed the cube to myself.
Juggler 26 Jan, 2013 @ 12:15am
This one was really tough. I think I took a shortcut at the end; I didn't use the flipping wall panel (marked with 'x'), since the wall panel next to it worked just fine; was able to tractor beam out of that one and jump down and sideways from there .
Sloi 25 Jan, 2013 @ 10:30pm
I did the same as Old Git and others. Not sure if that was intended or not, but it seemed legitimate enough that I went with it...

Nice map, as always.
Old Git 21 Jan, 2013 @ 12:05pm
I also solved it without the X button - maybe VectoR did it this way too:
Same as fumblus's solution up to 2.30 except that I had the reflector cube sitting on the floor grating outside the funnel room. I then edged back into the funnel room with the cube keeping the laser beam pointing at the receiver de-activating the fizzler
cyhborg 19 Jan, 2013 @ 4:02am
Hey Gig, I have published a chamber that's based on yours. Hope you don't mind.
Ale 13 Jan, 2013 @ 3:15am
great map, thank you
Gigo  [author] 4 Jan, 2013 @ 6:04pm
Stop doing that, gimme a demo.
Vice 4 Jan, 2013 @ 4:52pm
Nice map, still unintendeds though. I solved it pretty cleanly without one of the fizzler buttons or the X button.
NiclO (- - ) 31 Dec, 2012 @ 3:35am
Good map but confusing.

My solution didnt feel quite right though. Probably not intended but im satisfied with it.
Had myself and the cube pressed up against the grating with funnel, then just "airstrafed" around the grating and landed on other side.
The Sojourner 23 Dec, 2012 @ 12:03pm
Suggestions for cleaning up the unintended solutions:

1) Make the grating thicker (you'll probably have to move that portion of your puzzle back a block).
2) Adjust the portalable surfaces: remove any portalable surfaces next to the flip panel, and add one on the floor (not directly underneath the cube dropper though), so we can redirect the cube without glitching it around the grating.

Alternatively, get rid of the flip panel, and add a gap so that we can't sneak around the grating with the cube to skip the part of the puzzle you worked so hard to fix.
The Sojourner 23 Dec, 2012 @ 11:57am
Much better (it's amazing what one small change can do!).
NeKz 23 Dec, 2012 @ 6:58am
BROKEN.
*oh im too late
fumblus 23 Dec, 2012 @ 4:10am
You've removed the ability to shoot a portal under the fizzler, but you can still get to that back wall up the funnel. Here's a ham-fisted walkthrough:

Gigo  [author] 23 Dec, 2012 @ 3:16am
No, no, no, you need to be able to see the portal from the other side up the stairs.
cyhborg 23 Dec, 2012 @ 3:12am
I agree with Inspirata: stretch the middle fizzler up a block or all the way up to the ceiling and remove the retractable stairs and the platform it leads to. Also, the flip panel isn't necessary, unless you reduce the width of the platform that has the button which controls the panel by a block and keep the grating in its original position. the cube can be grabbed through the grating and maneuvered around it
Gigo  [author] 23 Dec, 2012 @ 3:09am
Fuck, too hard to fix.
Gigo  [author] 23 Dec, 2012 @ 2:11am
The actual entire peninsula bit, or just the part with the stairs? Are you using it without jumping on the cube?
The Sojourner 23 Dec, 2012 @ 1:08am
Maybe I should note that the balcony area nearby the funnel (with retractable stairs) is absolutely pointless (unless you make it purposeful somehow).
The Sojourner 23 Dec, 2012 @ 12:44am
Still solved it the same way as before, by standing on the cube in the area with the funnel, and portaling above the fizzler in the middle. Thus it would help to stretch the middle fizzler up a block.
Gigo  [author] 22 Dec, 2012 @ 6:57am
Thanks, easy to fix =D
Gigo  [author] 22 Dec, 2012 @ 4:41am
Ugh, people. Don't fucking tell me you did that and then not tell me how you did it, it's fucking pointless. Show me a demo.
The Sojourner 22 Dec, 2012 @ 4:39am
I needed one button (the one to reverse the funnel), but no others. I can easily see multiple solutions possible, and thus I staggered (and strggled) a little.
dead 15 Dec, 2012 @ 9:06pm
Nice map ;)
