I made a 4 buttons version of this map: https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2519772200

@Omega A perfect solution! Thanks a lot for the video :D Excellent work solving it!

You know, I just replayed it and the hardest part to remember (read: figure out again) was getting to the last cube. Now that I know the end move it feels simple (and so do I). I really like that looping mechanic, but couldn't figure out how to break out of it without losing the things needed to get out the exit. Thumbs up for sure.

@Spider_Dawg You had most of the map figured out! That last step is just a little sneaky. I'm glad you liked it
Spider_Dawg 21 Sep, 2019 @ 10:35pm
Nope. I watched that perpetual motion Machine Room all day without seeing what to do with it. I kept wanting to place the second laser cube right there next to the emitter , and no matter what I tried I just couldn't get anywhere that way and gave up without ever considering the actual solution. I had made it to the exit, but couldn't figure out how to get a cube over there. Excellent job, great puzzle, beyond my abilities.

@Teo I finished watching your blind run. Really excellent playthrough! The cuts in the footage made it so that the experience remained engaging all the way and your commentary was both interesting and witty at the same time :] I'm glad you enjoyed the experience. This is definitely one of my most difficult puzzles, so excellent work solving it!

woah that sure was a challenge, indeed most distressing. here's my blind run . there's timestamps in the description if you want to skip around

I really liked the idea behind this one Mike. Very clever indeed

@jandlml Haha no problem about the rating :P Excellent work completing the map! I'm glad you liked it

i am having trouble rating maps since i got a new computer as soon as i can i will rate this thumbs up and faved
jandlml 30 Dec, 2018 @ 8:05pm
awsome map! did need one teeny hint. i was trying to accomplish the right move the hard way and then i realized i didnt actually need to get the cube all the way back to the exit area by using the funnel the whole way. exceelent and faved
Nobody No-One 30 Dec, 2018 @ 3:01pm
I don't see a way to convey the signage more clearly than you did, unfortunately. Maybe just mention something about it in the description.
Mikeastro  [author] 30 Dec, 2018 @ 2:32pm
@Nobody No-One Thank you very much! I was also a bit unsure about the signage, so I'd love to hear suggestions should you have any. Also I changed the difficulty to 7/10. I'm really happy to hear that you liked it in the end ^_^
Nobody No-One 30 Dec, 2018 @ 1:53pm
Wow, this was a very tough map. It took me a while to wrap my head around the concept, but even once I had figured out how everything worked (the signage for what reverses the square-symbol funnel was a little bit confusing, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly), getting the 4th cube and then exiting was very difficult. I might consider it 7/10 difficult rather than 6/10, but I'm not sure. 6.5/10 maybe? Anyway, at first I was really skeptical about this map, but I really liked how you reused the contraption, with each cube allowing you to get one step further. It felt very satisfying to solve. Thumbs up and added to favorites.
jandlml 30 Dec, 2018 @ 12:23am
ok thanks
Mikeastro  [author] 29 Dec, 2018 @ 3:24am
@jandlml Well done making it to the last step! That glass panel is a bit in the way to pull of the trick to exit, so perhaps place that laser cube somewhere slightly differently?
jandlml 28 Dec, 2018 @ 9:06pm
is this set up right ? https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1606256168 one more pic coming
Mikeastro  [author] 27 Dec, 2018 @ 3:17am
@Joric Like I implicitly said in my previous comment, aiming one laser cube at the other was the original plan
Joric 27 Dec, 2018 @ 2:55am
@Leomievs, yeah, just turn it a bit to the left and point to another cube :)
@Mikeastro, is this ^ intended? I've lost track of what is intended and whatnot.
Mikeastro  [author] 27 Dec, 2018 @ 2:53am
@Joric It should have been there in update 2, but now it's gone again. Nasty angle but @Leomievs's idea is correct.
@bullfrog Yeah it's a bit of a funky map :p I hope you liked it regardless
Leo 27 Dec, 2018 @ 2:08am
@Joric
Weird indeed, because I played update 2. Without the ledge it's not much more complicated: you just need to aim the cube at the other laser cube instead of the laser catcher
bullfrog 26 Dec, 2018 @ 11:07pm
Very clever; in fact, too clever for me - well done @Leomievs.
Joric 26 Dec, 2018 @ 8:07pm
@Leomievs weird I don't have this ledge there at 7:55 in your video neither in update 2 nor update 3. Can you solve the current version of the map? (Though it's still possible to put a cube there https://i.imgur.com/VVCez9E.jpg)
Mikeastro  [author] 26 Dec, 2018 @ 10:56am
@Leomievs Thanks a lot for the video! Your solution is essentially fully intended. I just had this funny idea laying around and I've wanted to make a test out of it for a long time, but I didn't quite know how to go about it. In the end I personally think it turned out reasonably well, as you have to get a little bit creative each time to get the mechanism to do just enough for you to progress, but I agree it's a bit of a weird map altogether
Leo 26 Dec, 2018 @ 9:53am
Nice map, very clever and also pretty hard in my opinion. Personally it's not my favourite type of map, but it was original and still enjoyable to solve. It's a shame you couldn't change the funnel music in the end :( anyway here's my solution. It all seemed intended.
Mikeastro  [author] 26 Dec, 2018 @ 6:49am
@Joric Alright so some minor lay-out changes have been made - hopefully I didn't mess up anything else in the process
Joric 26 Dec, 2018 @ 6:01am
@Mikeastro, this is the only way for me so far, so go ahead and force your idea
Mikeastro  [author] 26 Dec, 2018 @ 5:41am
@Joric I guess it can't be helped that the cube will stay on the button when falling just a short distance. There is an elegant way to solve it without doing that, though, but your way is perfectly valid I think. I think adding a glass panel so that the cube can't be funneled from where you placed it is a bit of an ugly way to force my idea, and I fear it makes it too obvious. What do you think?
Joric 26 Dec, 2018 @ 4:37am
@Mikeastro I maybe overcomplicate but is this ending intended? https://youtu.be/MrXf5NtSRlg
Joric 26 Dec, 2018 @ 3:21am
Oh god oh god oh god can't wait to play it.
Nobody No-One 25 Dec, 2018 @ 5:21pm
Haven't played the map yet, but regarding point 3. you're not the only one who cares. I always get annoyed when stepping into a funnel doesn't play nice funnel music. It makes me want to spend as little time as possible in the funnel. :P
'Tis unfortunate indeed that you couldn't get the custom funnel music to work.
I think my favorite funnel music is whatever track is used in HankyMueller's Coalescence. I spent a long time just sitting there in the funnel listening to the music while I was playing that map.
OK now I'll go play the map.
