For anyone interested, I made an overhaul of this mod's trait icons to make them a bit more distinct and aesthetic. You can get it here .

I posted this on the 2.0 page too, but figured it's worth saying here too if anyone follows this mod but not the other. And @Crimson7, if you see this but didn't see the other one, feel free to implement any of my changes.
Solii 23. feb. 2024 kl. 21:31
idk why but the mod isn't downloading properly. i had to download manually from the dropbox link.
Ocelotus 13. okt. 2023 kl. 15:25
Would it be possible for me to get a copy of the CK3 version as well? I do have Discord.
Pseudo-Socrates 20. juli 2023 kl. 12:49
@Crimson7 I've tried looking for you on Discord and I can't find @Crimson7701, with the discord username change recently, did you create a new username?
niccodigge 5. mar. 2023 kl. 12:35
works with agot or can cause bugs?
Crimson7  [ophavsmand] 11. jan. 2023 kl. 9:56
@Mattia von Sigmund

I guess I'm a bit of a perfectionist and don't like to put up work I'm not happy with.

Actually the CK3 version of the mod was even better but I just dont have time to test it. You can add me on discord @Crimson7701 and I can send you Improved Genetics for CK3.
Mattia von Sigmund 7. jan. 2023 kl. 15:47
even if its buggy it would be nice to have it there, just to give people the idea to help you our or update the mod for ck3 for you, your mod is a gem I and i'm sure many other people need
Mattia von Sigmund 7. jan. 2023 kl. 15:33
Ah damn, butif you have created it, could you just publish it and who cares? At least it will be there and if someone notices he could help you
Crimson7  [ophavsmand] 1. jan. 2023 kl. 3:32
@Mattia Von Sigmund

I actually have created it for CK3. But I simply dont have time to test it or support it.
Mattia von Sigmund 27. dec. 2022 kl. 16:25
Man will you do this for CK3? I love it
Chandler 26. nov. 2022 kl. 13:54
Did you have problems running with ck2+ @hryukayuchiy
Pebble 4. nov. 2022 kl. 12:28
is it compatible with CK2Plus?
GatorByte 18. juni 2022 kl. 8:14
ck3 is gay compared to ck2 with the DLC
The Stranger 14. juni 2022 kl. 21:09
all the cool people do
Kat 21. mar. 2022 kl. 19:12
Who in the actual fuck plays CK3
Aurelia 14. okt. 2020 kl. 18:39
I mean... the ck3 mod is out, so dunno why this'd be updated anymore... Plus modding abilities for more so complicated math stuff is pitiful in ck2 compared to in ck3, so even it being as it is is kinda impressive in it's own right, and adding in what you'd need for genetic mutations...
Legacy 14. okt. 2020 kl. 16:25
is this going to still be updated, I'd like to see the genetic mutations
anduls 5. sep. 2020 kl. 8:03
@ Crimson9
Ah very good. I was thinking to convert your mod to CK3 (asking you of course) , but is better you do it yourself. Thanks. Mod is incredible never thought before, smth like this would be possible.
Crimson7  [ophavsmand] 29. aug. 2020 kl. 3:13
@steffoshis

This version of Improved Genetics will be up in the first week or two for CK3!

I'll be working on a more advanced version given the new modding tools also!
bupropionbaddie 26. aug. 2020 kl. 19:16
Are you going to add something to the new Crusader Kings 3 game?
Nicolaisen 19. aug. 2020 kl. 6:43
will this work on a saved game?
Dark_Blade 6. aug. 2020 kl. 9:45
Imho this is the best genetics mod I have ever seen for any game.
Looking for suitable parents will be a lot of fun now.
I think I will adjust outcomes though, moving the results more to the extremes: for example with an alleles value = 12 I will give them a 100% chance to get the best result, I think.
Aurelia 5. aug. 2020 kl. 12:00
@BallsOfSteelBaby Technically possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. When I was playing around with modding for this, I found it to be a pain. Generally speaking, if you can't figure out how to reverse engineer this you won't be able to merge it with the version for HIP.

Bit further detail is that there wouldn't be any merging, rather you would have to mod the HIP version and add this in from mostly scratch. I suppose there is quite a bit of copy-paste-ability with this, but still...

@VikingBezerker70 if CK2+ doesn't mod traits, it should theoretically be compatible. If it does mod them however, I don't know of any compatibility patch, not saying one doesn't exist.

@The Dark Lord Raven it shouldn't, anything of the like should just be coincidence. I believe you'd have to do a fake birth of sorts to do it like that, as gender is random.

Would be a cool idea, though... Wouldn't make sense, though, due to how genetics for gender work, but eh, when has that stopped anyone?
Radanos 5. aug. 2020 kl. 3:08
@Crimson9

Would you instruct me, please, how to merge this advanced version with HIP version? If it`s possible anyway
Hydra 23. juni 2020 kl. 6:35
I don't think the mod does, I seem to get a lot more daughters. Maybe ruler gender or your inheritance laws are a factor.
The Dark Emperor 5. juni 2020 kl. 22:08
Does this mod Effect gender ratios, i've noticed that I've had a lot more male children then female ones.
Not Miles Morales 28. maj 2020 kl. 5:40
Is this compatible with CK2+ and if not is there a other version of this mod?
Crimson7  [ophavsmand] 28. apr. 2020 kl. 7:25
@Grox

Basically tweaked some values to make sure the distributions were perfect. I think they may have made some other changes as well. They rewrote the script to opimize it.

Their mod is what I use to play the game with. It improves basically every aspect of the game without making the experience too different from vanilla. You can find it by googling Historical Immersion Project for Ck2.

Anyway, I do have some time so if you want me to add anything in particular I can look into it. Stats genetics can be added quite easily I suppose.
Grox 27. apr. 2020 kl. 23:35
HIP? What'd they do to it and where?
Crimson7  [ophavsmand] 25. apr. 2020 kl. 21:21
@Grox

I've become a bit disenchanted with Ck2 modding tools. Achieving truly advanced genetic systems would require mathematics, and the CK2 modding tools don't really support the ability to properly do mathematics (like exponents or roots)

They've actually added these tools in the new games (Imperator, and CK3.) And I will make an extremely comprehensive genetics mod for CK3. But for CK2 I think this is it.

This system is not bad... You can also try HIP, they used my genetics system and improved and polished it.
Grox 25. apr. 2020 kl. 19:22
Please you need to update and finish this. There is nothing else.
Grox 25. apr. 2020 kl. 19:18
Oh this is what I wanted! Huge fan of genetics and EpiGenetics. Want to breed a long family line of strong genes and traits I want like Left Handed and Tall. You should also make this take stats into account. Where 2 high stat parents will pass on those high stats from birth and better stat gains for their high stat skills.
Neverminder 7. mar. 2020 kl. 6:31
he no longer mods, my friends
Abaçı 12. feb. 2020 kl. 2:12
Does this work with Elder Kings?
Keram 18. nov. 2019 kl. 9:17
whats the difference between this and 2.0?
Bubbah Black 25. okt. 2019 kl. 11:10
does this mod work with hip?
FreshLine_ 19. okt. 2019 kl. 4:03
great mod, keep up work
Energywelder 14. okt. 2019 kl. 5:35
I'm also intrigued by Rainman's question, but would like to ask, when starting a new game, those characters which aren't historical, are genes purely gaussian or are certain traits never going to show up?
Rainman 13. okt. 2019 kl. 14:03
How do I make a strong bloodline by save editing? Do I give my character's all Capital alleles or just the good genes?
Quixotic Coyote 17. sep. 2019 kl. 21:16
I was looking at charinfo and I noticed that there aren't any flags for the giant trait. Does the giant trait exist as the highest level of the height trait? Because that doesn't really make sense. The trait as it exists in CK2 reduces fertility and health and the description says that people who have it tend to die early. That is pretty clearly meant to be gigantism. It has nothing to do with the genes which make people tall normally, its a pituatory disorder. The same is true of dwarfism. They should really be negative congenital traits with mendelian inheritance rather than polygenic.
The other possibility is of course that they are simply not included in the genetic system since 80% of the time they aren't caused by inherited genes. If that is the case then the above should be ignored.
Crimson7  [ophavsmand] 7. sep. 2019 kl. 16:01
@Energywelder

Yes it does. Bright on average have one more dominant allele than pop average (3.75 actually), and quick have 4.75 on average. As you keep marrying the average should go over 5 which means a few geniuses should pop up. There is some chance involved though. Your quick lad (lets say AABbCc) character could marry a bright lass (lets say shes AABbCc too) and their child could end up being AAbbcc, 2 alleles. That's a 1/16 chance.

With this version (advanced) something like that happening is less likely (1/32) but it can still happen.
Aurelia 5. sep. 2019 kl. 12:44
Oh, yeah. With how this mod weighs it, is that a child is far more likely to get quick than genius. It's kinda saddening, but yeah... But if you do have a eugenics program for 'em, you should tend towards only having quick and sometimes genius children.
Energywelder 5. sep. 2019 kl. 5:30
Yeah, but after a few generations the number of geniuses in the world has . . . declined. Lots of bright people, but it looks like i'm going to have to eugenics my way back to that point.
Aurelia 4. sep. 2019 kl. 20:16
@Energywelder Yes they would, although it'd be less likely to get the best genes than having children with genius partners.
Energywelder 4. sep. 2019 kl. 11:36
Does this mod yet model intelligence traits like quick, genius, bright etc. as different variations of "intelligent"? By which i mean as i keep marrying quick or bright people generation to generation, the chances of a genius child go up? I do have a genius ancestor . . . somewhere *aggressively consults family tree*
stupid btich 28. aug. 2019 kl. 0:56
i dont have any other trait mods but have found some posts about this for unmoded games must just be a general ck2 problem
Aurelia 28. aug. 2019 kl. 0:11
I had it mostly done, but forgot when I needed to set a flag to something_Aa i had to clear something_aa and something_AA... Got distracted with other stuff so never really finished... I do hope to one day, however, think it's a very interesting starting position... Probably next time I get in the mood for ck2 I'll finish it up. I'll post something then.
Crimson7  [ophavsmand] 27. aug. 2019 kl. 22:47
@Smegma

If you downloaded another trait mod then the traits become all messed up in the same save file. You have to start a new game if you add a new trait mod.

Other than that, there is no way this mod touches drunkards

@[TRR] Aurelian

Not sure if you are still interested, but yes you can post a link here!
stupid btich 27. aug. 2019 kl. 21:14
i dont know how but i believe this mod is making babies be born as drunkards, i keep seeing 2 year old drunkards
