Couldn't work it and the one video is gone. Then read wildgoosespeeders post and the author's response--then I got it. There is a proper set up to the first section that will allow the second to be accomplished...and yes...it involves a lot of waste. Good thing that the description points out the inexhaustible supply of cubes. Pretty cool once you get it.

Great puzzle

I did something similar to dire and Deathwish, except instead of holding the cube, I pushed it through the portal with my butt. It meant I already had the shot to move the portal lined up.

nice little bit of thinking. good puzzle!

I thought, when you are standing in the second area, you could see the white wall that you need to use in the first area, which is, admittedly, a bit hidden.

I get why the map is called waste. This is a new trick for me. Rarely done. I had to look at the solution video just to see what to do. I know you tried to train the concept first but it didn't click for me at first and I didn't realize that the sections were more intertwined than initially thought.

ok im stumped on the 2nd part. How do I preserve the portal under the dropper and destroy the cube in hand to trigger a new drop:trolol:
olshi  [author] 22 Apr, 2014 @ 5:01am
If I understood this correctly, you'd have to be really fast with the second portal, before the cube falls back into the first one. Interesting... I'm not sure if I can prevent that.
But thanks for playing and commenting!

Another good one. I saw a different solution than what I did in the playthrough though. I played again and as I rode across on the platform I fired a portal under the dropper and took the cube with me to the bottom and fired the other portal near the grating. I then walked and let go of cube and refired bottom portal up on the high side and the cube fell in the water and then respawned and flew across. Pretty sure this is unintended and the way I did in the video seems correct.

I didin't use the E key to hold the cube, I put myself in front of the portal so the cube can't fall
dire.fcs 31 Mar, 2014 @ 9:56am
Yes holding it; it won't fall by the vertical portal, then I shoot the portal to the upper final wall (wasting that cube to the pit), I got both portals and another cube from the dropper. Removing that portalable wall or grating it would solve this glitch.
olshi  [author] 31 Mar, 2014 @ 8:58am
Are you saying, the cube is resting between both portals, and then you shoot the win-portal?
dire.fcs 31 Mar, 2014 @ 8:34am
I guess if you use grating on the portalables vertical down walls which are opposite to the up portalable walls (to the final portal cube to fly), this unintended solution can be avoided
dire.fcs 31 Mar, 2014 @ 8:27am
I hold the cube down in the second part: with a portal to the cube dropper and a vertical portal down in the second part I was hold the cube (which was in both portals at the same time, and the shot up the portal for the cube to go the button (the holding cube was wasted) it's a inevitable glitch of the game I think.

Please tell me, if you've found an exploit! Unless I misunderstood.

Nice trick at least was what I've done: holding the cube .
Excellent chamber designs!!
