Not as hard as the previous two, fairly simple, actually. First part is neat enough, but then I didn't understand what my goal even is in the pneumatic vent puzzle, I just pushed some buttons and it worked... what was even the idea here? Second part (after that) is the cooler one, despite the slight overlap between funnel bits being tough to navigate at one point, and the fact that it's a bit hard to know if that one cube auto-respawns without hitting the button or not , still, some cool moves there.

Great atmospherics again, you really have a knack for spooking the player. That blood drop from above, what _is_ there? And the facility really keeps moving everywhere. (But I wouldn't disguise a portalable panel in the second part with this -- it's very easy to uncover, but still kinda lame to not be able to see it immediately.)

"Pace yourself. We've got a lot of tests to do." (GLaDOS)

Where? :P

The question is will we get a part 4 till the 10 year anniversary of this map? ;) no seriously this map gives me a lot of nostalgia of the first maps i played in portal 2 and i still remember being sad that the series suddenly stopped

@canticle Thanks!
Part of me sometimes thinks about finishing of this series but it has been so long so I have even used Hammer and I am super busy with new projects.

To balance out all the "too easy" comments, I want to say thanks for making it challenging, but not so frustrating that I gave up or started looking for hints. I had to think, but no step took more than 15 minutes to figure out before I could move onto the next. I'm not a portal god, but I'm not awful either, so I appreciate chambers that are a challenge but not so complex as to be inscrutable. The inter-chamber pnuematic-tube puzzle was a nice touch.

Sorry as I am to hear that you had to stop further work on this series to work on Mel, I'm glad you did...the work you and the others did on Mel was fantastic!! I wish Valve would adopt Mel as the official inter-Portal history...

Carolin, can you get the file for test subject 12-15-14-5-23-15-12-6? I wanna hire him for my cleaning division. Oh, wait. Is this still on?

Congradulations. You have done fanonominal work in the name of science. Please collect your $60 at the receptionist's desk near the exit. We hope you've enjoyed your time here at Aperture Science.

Found a trapping situation. If you go to the room that reverses the funnel in the second chamber. Suck in the cube to the funnel. Unreverse the funnel so its is pushed into that room. And drop the cube in the goo. Boom trapped

@RBTOAB Thanks very much for the kind words xD Really glad you enjoyed and hope you will enjoy Portal Stories: Mel when its released :)
captainj 23 Apr, 2015 @ 8:21pm
so now having finished both dilapidation and reconstruction i have to say that not only is the design excellent, but the nature of the puzzles themselves is superior to the actual portal 2 original game. In fact it seems the original game is just a primer for real thought puzzles like these. everyone who finishes the original game needs to do these maps in order to appreciate what portal can be with the true cleverness on display here. what a fantastic job lonewolf, thanks so much for making them
Miyu 4 Apr, 2015 @ 1:30am
srsly , you're the best portal 2 mapper i have ever seen

You are a skilled mapper sir. Very much enjoyed the Reconstruction serie. Thanks for making..

Oh, so you're the same author!! I didn't notice. LOL I'm so looking forward to that mod!! I'm keeping track of updates on that on ModDB. :D
LoneWolf2056  [author] 25 Jan, 2015 @ 7:48am
@Ryan James Unfortunately I have cancelled this series for now due to being really busy working on Portal Stoires Mel
RyanThoughtCriminal 25 Jan, 2015 @ 3:37am
U didn't cancel the franchise due to being too busy, did u? I really hope not.
Chelliste 2 Dec, 2014 @ 9:15am
Thoroughly enjoyable, especially the first part. I agree it's not as hard as some of the author's other maps, but I didn't mind. At the end I was trying to transport the second cube to the exit and it fell into the water. Argh! Oh wait... Perfect! I must be smarter than I thought!

Someone asked below why all the comments were positive but it doesn't have 5 stars. That would be due to those who give up in frustration and downcheck without commenting.
Kazitor 28 Sep, 2014 @ 3:43am
Very good! I'm trying to learn Hammer, but the valvesoftware developer wiki doesn't go very far in the sense of a good tutorial past the basics.
Petutski 26 Sep, 2014 @ 8:58pm
Excellent map! Thanks for the many hours you put into this! My brain is tied in a knot... literally!
BorniWolf 17 Aug, 2014 @ 9:02pm
Great work, thank you! A bit easier than I expected from you, I mean, considering your other maps:-) Of course, no complaint, I have three small maps only, all of them created by the in-built editor...
Just one thing i cant understand: Everybody says that this map was nice... ok then how the hell is it possible that it got 4 stars only??? Today I played with at least 30 maps all of them with very high rating, and all but one were completely trivial or at most, let me say ``easy``. They got 5 stars form thousands of players for what I will never understand...
I have just sent an email to the valve team in which I was begging them to give us a surface where we can rate the difficulty of the maps. I would save us hours of disappointing playing before we can find a real challenge. I hope they will response... Perhaps if many of us did the same, they would consider it.
Anyway, keep up the good work, we really appreciate it!!

Thumbs up primaruly for the ending - very good and in line with the Glados comments. To me, some elements interefered with eachother in the process of solving, and that may be as mentioned before regarding compacting some of these elements in such a way they interfere. Not sure if intended, but there's a lens cube throw to tractor beam over to the turret protected exit of the player and the companion cube that might be helped a little by indenting a spot on the floor to land the thrown lens cube . I thought the arrangement here made this very hard to get a non-regular unpracticed action right, especially as this action wasn't eluded to from solving the previous area. Anyway, that's my nitpick. Still enjoyed completing. Thanks as always for your maps. Cheers.

Another master class in mapping. Spectacular visuals, and a fantastic puzzle.
Yavie 21 May, 2014 @ 4:48pm
I'm finally getting the hang of your deceptively complex puzzles! They always end up being very logical and much easier than I try to make them (:

@DeathWish808 Thanks for the videos, checked them out on twitch, a few unintended things.

I added two of your maps that I thought I hadn't played, but turned out I remembered playing this one, but here's the video of it and a few other maps. Good stuff!

This one sure didn't disappoint (art and puzzles...and a hilarious ending to boot). Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Easiest of all your levels. I still gave it a thumbs up tho cuz it was fun and well made like the rest of them. I look forward to more from your mind. Thank you. And who is this Ben guy. And how did he die?
LoneWolf2056  [author] 6 Feb, 2014 @ 11:02am
@RustyDios Thanks and good luck with your own mapping :)
RustyDios 5 Feb, 2014 @ 6:39pm
Loved this map. Great use of GLaDOS lines, lighting effects (that bright red tunnel/vent/duct just to catch the eye), ambient music and the reconstruction theme in general. I really enjoyed the level of difficulty in these chambers.

Great map. You really help to set the standard of what a Hammer made map should be. I aspire to be like you (and a few others) one day.

I found the first part to be very hit-and-miss to get it to work right. I knew what to do but sometimes I couldn't get it to behave the way I wanted it to because of the tight quarters. It was good none-the-less but I did find it to be a bit too easy compared to your other chambers.

This was pretty easy although I was stuck at the exit for some time with only one cube until I accidantly destroyed the second one. Then it was trivial. I thought it wouldn't drop the new one until the button was pressed.

Finally a part 3 of reconstruction :)
Andi 24 Jan, 2014 @ 8:51am
This was a brainbuster. The puzzles were challenging but not overly hard, the design was top notch, and it was very fun to play. You are a excellent map maker and I look forward to the next chamber. Thumbs up.

Would you please try mine?

Wow! Not many maps use this degree of grates and laser fields. Well done.
| \_/ () 23 Jan, 2014 @ 10:22am
It's a very good map overall, but I think part 1 and 2 are twice as good. the two chambers here are much easier and the looks of them aren't that impressive. It's maybe due to the many laserfields, I don't know. the bts parts are nice, the vacuum tube puzzle was great and the thing I liked the most here was the final elevator animation. nice job there!
kimist108 22 Jan, 2014 @ 5:17pm
Super fan of your test chambers!
