Yeah... the upper level really stumped me. Good map though
Mikeastro  [author] 9 Mar @ 3:53am
Thanks for playing everyone! I'm very humbled that this one is still appreciated even today.
@SpL15 I'm very happy to see that you continue to enjoy my puzzles :cozycrashfish:
SpL15 8 Mar @ 5:18pm
Simple but creative. Not many maps forces you to fizzle/disable one of your portals, that's amazing
Dopetob 28 Feb @ 2:46pm
Breezed through it, lots of fun concepts.

"Difficulty 3.5/10" LIES
fun tho:steamhappy:

what a great map ruined by laser collisions !

I love such puzzles: not overwhelming number of elements, minimalist design, you can clearly keep all map elements in your mind, reusable elements, different tactics on the same elements - condensed pleasure.

What a brilliant map! In love with its logic. The null portal and ghost cube combo is so insane, it is lovely. My favorite part however, is how each use of the piston gets simpler, but for some reason it gets trickier to see what to do with it. I don't know how you did that. A very strong fav!
mabelpines 16 Mar, 2024 @ 11:15pm
Very clever puzzle!
Mikeastro  [author] 2 Mar, 2024 @ 7:50am
@StackSmasher789 Thanks a lot for playing and for the kind words! One of the hardest maps is definitely this one but I wouldn't recommend playing that one unless you are willing to put in many, many hours...
StackSmasher789 2 Mar, 2024 @ 6:06am
This was super clever. Ghost cubes is apparently an intended solution. Took me about 45-50 mins to figure it out as a novice player. No idea how the difficulty ratings are tbh. Is there any puzzle that is actually 10/10 difficult?
Gabriel Bacon 3 Nov, 2023 @ 9:17pm
Nice one. The lower level was especially satisfying. Very minimalist as always, reminds me of your Reliquiae series

Found this map through your "Why are most maps bad" video. I don't think this chamber quite warrants a 3.5/10 as I managed to solve it in 15 minutes; though I am fairly experienced at the game. Overall though, very nice chamber.
Mikeastro  [author] 19 Sep, 2023 @ 6:30am
@_Rusty Thank you so much for the kind words and great work solving it :D Very happy to hear that you enjoyed it
Rusty 19 Sep, 2023 @ 4:14am
Just Solved this test for the first time in about 35 minutes, I really loved the extensive reuse of each part of this puzzle, and the ghost cube mechanic was a nice touch. What an absolutely brilliant puzzle! Keep up the good work :D
Mikeastro  [author] 5 Aug, 2023 @ 8:00am
@Solinoxia Thanks a lot for playing :D Great work solving it! Indeed, some familiarity with some more modern ideas is definitely recommended before trying this one. Glad you enjoyed it :cozycrashfish:
Solinoxia 5 Aug, 2023 @ 5:55am
That's a very nice puzzle! If I wasn't already familiar with your antics that first part would have probably taken me a long time, still took me a bit of headscratching before I saw it though. After that it was fairly straightforward until my brain had a bit of a hiccup at the end. Added to my favorites.
Mr Fab 14 Jul, 2023 @ 12:30am
When I see that word, I can only think of that one indie game called "Manifold garden" Favorited !
Crazy Owl 7 Jun, 2023 @ 2:11pm
10/10 amazing map. Every time I figured out a solution to part of the puzzle, I thought to myself (in the best, and nicest way possible) "You sly bastard"
Mikeastro  [author] 15 Mar, 2023 @ 5:20am
Thanks everyone for playing this one! I'm happy to hear you all liked the puzzle as well as the music here. @bullfrog Thank you in particular for the kind words and the video! Your solution was perfectly intended :D
bullfrog 15 Mar, 2023 @ 12:52am
I don't understand why I haven't played and left a comment on this one. All I can think of is that I played it when it first came out, failed to solve it, left it in my queue and, at some point later, deleted it. Anyway; brilliant puzzle, not too hard, but very elegant and definitely not easy  and added to favourites intended solution ?
Mr.Unreliable 11 Nov, 2022 @ 9:06pm
Amazing chamber, although small it has so much reuse of everything, and a nice use of the Flip Panel , Favorited, Well done!
E L Y T R O N 27 Jul, 2022 @ 2:38pm
Auugh! My head hurts. I play Portal 2 a lot...but this is certainly above a 3.5/10 for me! Love the custom music by the way!
Almisuifre 4 Apr, 2022 @ 10:36am
Nice logic, small space : very pleasant :cleancake:
Mikeastro  [author] 30 Mar, 2022 @ 4:04pm
@Leo Thank you! And it makes me very happy to see you play some puzzles again :cozycrashfish:
Leo 30 Mar, 2022 @ 4:00pm
There's a ghost cube so it's automatically a good map. Jokes aside, it IS a great puzzle! The solution flows very nicely. My favourite part was actually the beginning, particularly the null portal. Great stuff, makes me happy to play some puzzles again :D
Nalkahn 15 Mar, 2022 @ 10:10am
Nice map :p2cube:
Red Minerals 3 Feb, 2022 @ 8:10am
@Mikeastro Yes, this would be my first published hammer map, but Im not very advanced...
Mikeastro  [author] 2 Feb, 2022 @ 2:48pm
@TChapman500 Yep, that's certainly true. It's hard to give it a fair rating because it is so dependent on having seen that one trick before
@Red Minerals Sure, go ahead! I'm looking forward to playing it already :D Have you used hammer before?
Red Minerals 2 Feb, 2022 @ 1:01pm
I have not played yet, but I have heard really good reviews. I will hammerize this when I finish if that is fine with you, Mike
TChapman500 9 Jan, 2022 @ 6:10pm
Difficulty is definitely 3/10, but ONLY if you are used to stacking cubes on top of each other to take advantage of cube fizzle mechanics. Had to watch one of the videos to see how to get to the upper rooms. But I was able to figure the rest out myself. Good puzzle.
Mikeastro  [author] 8 Jan, 2022 @ 7:20am
@nerdlingnation Thanks for playing! Good to see you back :]
nerdlingnation 7 Jan, 2022 @ 10:29am
Haven't played portal in a long time. Glad to see some things haven't changed. Great puzzle!
Mikeastro  [author] 6 Jan, 2022 @ 11:16am
@zorth Thank you very much for playing and for the video! I'm very happy to hear that you liked it. You solved it perfectly :D
@Nobody No-One Haha yeah, I guess this is one of those cases where for experienced players 3/10 is pretty accurate, but for newer players it is extremely difficult to get started. Glad you liked it :]
Tomi 5 Jan, 2022 @ 8:39pm
Compact, elegant, flowing, not too hard. It has this natural rhythm like a dance. Circling around the rooms many times in one direction and then at the end comes the variation.

Nobody No-One 3 Jan, 2022 @ 6:27pm
Fun little map! Funny how the ghost cube move has become so mainstream nowadays that it can be included in a 3/10 difficulty map. Thumbs up.
Mikeastro  [author] 2 Jan, 2022 @ 11:19am
@Master.AKA Thank you so much for playing! Nice work solving it. I personally liked the part with the Lie algebra better x)
Master.AKA 2 Jan, 2022 @ 11:12am
Thumbs up! In short: Minimal and creative. Forcing to use the full potential of the objects by considering as much of the interactions between them as possible to be part of the solution is always a great idea. The implementation of the core concepts were also done without a single error. 10/10. If I ha to choose a moment, my favorite part was when you had to play with Lie Groups!

Sector 5 18 Dec, 2021 @ 12:31pm
@Mikeastro,,,,,,,,,,,Season's greetings and hopefully a happier new year !
Mikeastro  [author] 6 Dec, 2021 @ 4:31am
@Polybagel Ooh interesting! Let me know how low you can ultimately get, I'd be interested in seeing how far you can take it :]
@₴ⱧɆɆ₱ĐØ₲ Thanks a lot for the video! A perfect solution found in a very short time. Glad you liked it!
Polybagel 5 Dec, 2021 @ 5:54pm
I did actually find the intended solution, but ive been theory crafting a way to beat the map with as few portals as possible
i did find a potential way to skip part of the map by using one of the cubes to jump up to the finish, but i havent figured out how to do that quite yet in an actual run lol
a lot of attention was clearly put on making the map un-breakable, which i really like
Mikeastro  [author] 5 Dec, 2021 @ 5:44pm
@Polybagel Don't worry, as the author I am notified of every comment. I wouldn't be surprised if bhopping would turn out to break the map, which is why I specified it as 'forbidden' in the description :] Did you also find the intended solution?
Polybagel 5 Dec, 2021 @ 3:59pm
@Mikeastro oops forgot to do the name mention thing so you actually see it lol
Polybagel 5 Dec, 2021 @ 12:55pm
pretty sweet map, although i did find an unintentional bhop skip (i think)
if you want i actually managed to record it so i can show you where it is lol
Mikeastro  [author] 4 Dec, 2021 @ 6:26pm
@SunnyOst @jandlml Thank you :D
@NOT A DOG Thanks for playing! The difficulty on this one is a bit iffy, as those 'in the know' of the subtlest move of the puzzle will find it fairly easy, but those who have never seen it before, could face a greater challenge. I had not expected a track that consists of mostly drums to be too distracting, I will keep it in mind. Glad you liked it in the end though :]
@Cortexcyan There is one subtle trick required at some point. If you get past that, I'm sure you will be able to reach the exit!
jandlml 4 Dec, 2021 @ 5:53pm
very sweet little map!! :steamhappy:
Cortexcyan 4 Dec, 2021 @ 1:22pm
Taking me a while, this one! not there yet:steamthumbsup:
NOT A DOG 4 Dec, 2021 @ 12:43pm
i would rate it a bit higher, maybe a difficulty 5/10 .

its a really fun and interesting test, i loved it.
My only problem with it is the music, its too distracting, i had to turn it off just to think.
Maybe down the volume by 60%.

Nevertheless i love every single moment of it, great work!:p2orange:
