One could have a discussion yes, but there's evidence that show us the evolution and the longetivity of use of roman equipment, weapons and armor, an example of this are the Montefortino helmets. The Italic H would have certainly been used by roman armies during Aurelian's time. It's true that some cavalry helmets such as the Niederbieber started to be used by the infantry alongside other helmet variants such as the Italic H during the late 2nd C.E, however, none helmet would have fully replaced the other, and therfore, the mix of helmets is historically correct and accurate. There are several books on the subject (unfortunately some outdated). I'm glad that people are interested in roman military history.
