Or rather, I guess you can, but I don't know how. I'm not a modeller, and I don't know how to script those ammo counters on the side of the guns.

This should be a Steam Mod not a Workshop Mod for a game. Please work on this more, this could be so amazing in S&box.

I had some trouble positioning those in a good way. I might try a different spot. However, you should still be able to pick them up - if you place your hand right inside of the item and grip, it should go into your inventory despite being "stuck" in the environment.

Crowbar is stuck at the beginning, couldn't pick it up. Same with the ammo box behind it. Because of that, I couldn't progress past the bus part, cause you run out of ammo.

People wanted the Biohazard skins and sound effects, so I merged 'em in. Some won't; can't really please everyone without making multiple versions. Best you can do at the moment is just play it when you want and unsub when you want to play something else. It is what it is.

Alright, so I finally got off my lazy butt and updated this thing. Check the description and the changelog to see what's different. Big important points:
- I could not get a reasonable separation of custom assets like skins and sounds, so they're all included. Don't subscribe to this while playing the vanilla campaign or other custom campaigns unless you're okay with assets being overwritten.
- If you dislike the changes, there's a link at the top of the description for an unlisted copy of the original files.
- If you already had save games, you probably can't use them with this new version (though maybe you can with the aforementioned unlisted v1 copy).

As someone who has played both, one definitely doesn't make the other obsolete, lol.
The RE2R VR mod is great, but not perfect either. And the original RE2 is still worth revisiting.

No gloves: You don't have a suit. I mention this in the description, but the maps don't give the player a suit like they're intending to. Simplest way to fix this is by playing map 1 normally, then running map 2 from the main menu. Doing so gives you a suit. (Using cheats in the console can also do this among other things, if necessary. More steps though.)
Running: As you just stated you didn't have a suit, I imagine that's why you couldn't run. Beating this without a suit is pretty hard, so congrats on making it regardless.
Saving on map 4: Someone else mentioned this so it's something I can try to look into, I'm not sure I have any ideas on what the problem might be though, admittedly.

lastly, the save feature does not seem to work in the lab.
in order to beat this I had to play the entire lab section 4 times.

It took me like 4 tries to beat the last boss due to running not being active in the vr version. I've beaten the flat screen version countless times. I was rockin back before you could even finish the lab. I am hoping running gets fixed in the vr version soon.

I love this. I am stuck somewhere, but refuse to look for a guide. I know I just need too go back somewhere. I am new to the Resident Evil title, but this has been really amazing to play. As well as inspiring to my own works.

Been wanting to update this so the maps flow better without the Gmod extras and have the vanilla-overriding skins/sounds separate. Will get to it at some point. Life's... been not so good to me lately.

Making a map for Half Life 2 is generally sufficient, as you can compile the map and then move it to the HL2VR custom folder and load it in game. It's almost one to one.
So a good place to start would be viewing any tutorial that shows you the basics of making a HL2 map in Hammer.

Just finished playing this and I love it. I knew the crow part was coming but it still got a jump out of me. Thank you for porting this over. Maybe next time I'll remember to equip the suit. :steamthumbsup:

Thanks for the info. I'm working on redoing this addon with the HL2 specific version of the maps (not GMod) and hopefully putting all the over-writing content in a separate optional addon for precisely that reason. On the plus side it'll include some stuff that wasn't in this version already, like RE-style zombie noises for example.

Heads up that being subscribed to this addon will cause a number of base game assets to be replaced, including the character model for manhacks. Being subscribed to this mod will turn manhacks into pigeons. The pigeons won't be able to be grabbed by your gravity gun.

It may be possible to beat it without the suit, but it would definitely be significantly harder. That's why I usually load map 2 directly once I get to the RPD, and just have the mental headcanon that once he gets to the RPD he finds a police uniform and puts it on.

Super cool! The environment is perfectly recreated. All the hallways actually look different from each other so you can tell where you are. I didn't read the description so I didn't know you are supposed to have the HEV suit. I thought it was intentional that you can't sprint or see your health, and you have white man hands so I thought "Oh it's Leon". It was pretty fun playing this way aside from not having a flashlight.

It's pretty faithful to the original RE2. If you can get a copy of the Sourcenext PC version, it's absolutely worth a play. (Or console copies too, for that matter.) And the Remake is also excellent, although it does go its own creative ways with the plots and layout.

Blood_Wraith really did an amazing job at making these maps feel just like the original game.

Very nice! I don't have comment permissions on Gmod workshop, but massive props to Blood_Wraith for making this. I have no idea what the story was supposed to be (I've never played a RE game), but it was very fun nonetheless. Thanks for "porting" this :)

There's only four things that really scared me: The time when the zombies barge through the windows, the swarm of bird-hacks (I kept yelling BIRD BIRD KILL IT IT'S EVIL after that), the antlion that pushes you back like 3m (I probably wouldn't have gotten scared if it hadn't pushed me back so far) and the sudden drop once you get the knight piece.

Final boss is a tanky dude for sure, but does die with enough firepower. It did feel like it took a bit too long. Hopefully it's just that and not a bug related to its HP.

Worth noting I played on Normal, not Hard. That could possibly affect it too.

Possible bug. Final boss wouldn't die; Didn't even start to drip blood after 12 shotgun shots, 5 SMG mags and 14 magnum shots.

Otherwise i really enjoyed the map and you did a good job of porting it into VR.

From what I understand, the ink ribbons don't save the game, they unlock some extra health (maybe ammo too, I can't remember) in the RPD lobby if you pick up enough of them.

You can still save the game the usual way via the pause menu.

Enemies are HL2 ones. Stuff like Zombie->Headcrab Zombie, Licker->Antlion, Zombie Dog->Fast Zombie, et cetera. Same deal for weapons, Leon's shotgun ->HL2 shotgun for example. The map layout and key items you pick up for puzzles are very close to the original, with only mild alterations here and there to account for this being played in a different engine with a different control scheme (first person with no inventory menu, rather than fixed-camera tank controls with a pause inventory screen and map).

k ill test it sooner or later, i do like classic resident evil maps, was just wondering how far in the game it goes, like enemies and stuff.
