This map is alright, somehow it flowed almost perfectly for me.
Andy T 28 sep 2023 om 0:34
I think it's much easier than expected, it bracket difficulty between autopilot and no idea how fairly well and a very enjoyable yet somewhat higher than mid casual in difficulty.
vallibus 7 jan 2022 om 13:48
Ha! I just noticed I played this map back in 2014. Still interesting and fun the second time around.
Dark Rozen 11 dec 2018 om 15:02
I found this one quite easy, you could proberbly make it better.
Demon Arisen  [auteur] 25 jan 2018 om 23:32
@Tronsnake Yeah, this one's a bit broken. Glad you liked it anyway!
Hikari 25 jan 2018 om 19:27
Awesome test, although I didn't find a use for disabling the laser field.

ncrecc 2 mei 2016 om 9:56
Required a lot of walking around, liked it otherwise.
tu7650x 19 sep 2015 om 16:03
Good puzzle. Turning off the laser field is not required to solve it. You should make it permanent.
Petutski 10 jul 2015 om 19:49
Very nice brain teaser!

Nice map
wildgoosespeeder 25 dec 2014 om 22:10
Have the laser cube on the edge? Otherwise I found this to be easy.

Very brilliant test. Well done D:

Great puzzle!
racknae 12 okt 2014 om 12:06
Very well done. At first I just positioned the cube on the edge of the platform to complete the test, but then I went back to find the actual solution, and I can say it's actually fairly clever. Nice job.

I made this test, and I'm looking for a bit of feedback on it. I hope you don't mind.

Demon Arisen  [auteur] 12 okt 2014 om 0:49
@p0rtalmaster Yay, thanks very much! :-D I'm glad you stumbled on the solution like that, this is meant to be the kind of chamber where you end up going around in circles until you get that "Aha!" moment. :-)
The Sojourner 11 okt 2014 om 23:37
A nice, simple stumper. I kinda stumbled upon the solution. Well done :p2cube:

@Stagger Lee Thank you for taking the time to comment! :-D I'm pleased you enjoyed the puzzle, and I'm glad you noticed and liked the aesthetics, I always put a lot of work into them. :-)
Demon Arisen  [auteur] 11 okt 2014 om 0:28
@dmuk Thanks very much for playing and commenting! :-) I always try to make my chambers compact enough that all areas are reachable fairly easily without having to redo the entire puzzle. :-D
Stagger Lee 10 okt 2014 om 20:34
Nice chamber. Just enough thought needed to make it fun to solve. Nice calming atmosphere provided by the aesthetics. Well done.
dmuk 10 okt 2014 om 14:45
Did you ever get 90% of the way thru a puzzle and then realize you missed a step? This happened to me on this one; fortunately it was easy to backtrack and put things where they needed to be. It's often a big clue when a "random" portal placement does something you really need to consider... heh
Demon Arisen  [auteur] 10 okt 2014 om 0:12
@Miami Mike Thanks very much for posting the alternate solution, I had guessed it would involve something like that. :-) I'll release an update when I can to prevent it, but in the meantime, I reckon that is actually harder than the intended solution since you need to move so carefully and precisely. Anyway, thanks for playing! :-D
Demon Arisen  [auteur] 10 okt 2014 om 0:10
@jrd.vt Thanks for commenting! The water just makes it look better, since all the lights above the water reflect off it. Also, the chamber is called "Swamped" and if you read the description you'll see the reasoning behind it. :-)

I like to make my chambers look different and aesthetically pleasing, that's all. :-)
Chelliste 9 okt 2014 om 21:47
I enjoyed the puzzle, did it partly like Miami Mike's alternate solution but a little simpler.

What was the point of the water under the glass floor? It didn't make any difference to the puzzle at all.
Miami Mike 9 okt 2014 om 13:10
Okay, here's the solution that doesn't involve shutting off the deadly laser field:

1. Position the laser redirection cube at the forward edge of the elevated area where you can grab it from below, and aim it at the laser catcher that shuts off the fizzler.

2. Place portals so that the fizzler is turned off, then move the portal from above the grid to the portal surface in the exit room. (Don't go into the exit room yet.) This turns the fizzler back on, but with the laser shining through it and passing next to the starway nearest the exit.

3. Go to where the cube is, reach up, and grab it.

4. Now for the tricky part: Walk sideways up the stairway nearest the exit while you keep the fizzler turned off by redirecting the laser to the laser catcher. You can take all the time you need by moving just a tiny bit up the stair and then adjusting your aim. Once you're past the fizzler you're home free!
Demon Arisen  [auteur] 9 okt 2014 om 0:08
@Miami Mike Thanks for finding that alternate solution. :-) Could you perhaps show me how you do it without the laser grid? Either explain or make a demo file or youtube video if you can. :-)
Miami Mike 8 okt 2014 om 14:47
krikritof is right. The laser fence might as well be a permanent grid because there's no need to go into the room with the laser. The puzzle is much more challenging if you don't.

Good fun map, not too easy untill you give it a bit of thought. Not too bright ,I hate dark maps with hidden items. Enjoyed, Thank you.
Demon Arisen  [auteur] 8 okt 2014 om 5:41
Thanks for all the lovely comments everyone, I'm so pleased that everyone is enjoying this one. I'll be making some new chambers in a couple of weeks. :-)

@jgaultney Thanks for playing! :-D I love laser puzzles too, you can do so many things with them... Oh, and thanks for always leaving useful feedback on my chambers, I really do appreciate it, it means a lot to me. :-)
jgaultney 5 okt 2014 om 9:23
Enjoyable. In my book, you can't really go wrong with a laser puzzle :) Thumbs up !!
Polux 5 okt 2014 om 3:42
Yes a bit, the laser is barely visible,
but it doesn't really matter.
Demon Arisen  [auteur] 5 okt 2014 om 3:27
@Polux Thanks very much for playing and commenting! :-D I'm glad you like it. Do you think the area where the laser is is a bit too bright?
Polux 5 okt 2014 om 1:31
Nice simple test, thumbs up.
