File naming scheme is something I feel strongly about with tf2 maps, we wanted it to be immediately apparent what you were in for when you started loading into a map, hence why we made it arena_mapname instead of ft_mapname, since you can still expect the standard arena rules etc
It can be used with no specific theme and it looks less dramatic comparing to huge hologram or ice statue which can give an idea that anybody can help.
We weren't going to go EXACTLY with the MVM holograms, as that has the connotation of "only a medic can revive this", and it wouldn't allow us to show the hat that the player is wearing, nor pose them in their death pose, but you've hit the nail on the head for what we were planning to do for future support :)
millions must slop retextured summer maps
The people on the Freeze Tag project come from all sorts of communities, none of them are localised entirely from one specific discord server or anything. It's just people who wanted to make something fun together.
Im glad its being discussed but pls keep it civil!
I dont think thats entirely correct. Many names that I see among map makers and modders for Freeze Tag made appearances on Emporium. Yrrzy, Square, Diva Dan, Zythe just to name a few
Sure, it might not be just "an emporium specific thing", but its definitely "emporium adjacent". And most of the time thats all that people need to jump to conclusions
The true bulk of the testing, iteration, feedback and development cycle was done on servers like TF2Maps, Aarmastah's server, and UEAKCrash's server. To say that Freeze Tag is specifically an "emporium" thing is just a flagrant lie, I'm afraid.
Personally I just dont think that TF2 needs more maps. I didn't bother finishing this year's Halloween contracts beyond 20% because there are just so many maps of various quality that its no longer fun to play them all
Sometimes it really hard to get it why some modes gets love it deserved but others not. Especially when slop-comments is the first thing you see. I may only suggest to mapmakers hold their horses and put more work into developing a feature for one map per mode and make it similar to already existing gameplay like it went with Dynamite, Life Snatcher and many more Scream Fortress proposed maps from this instead of making very gimmicky ambitious mode that would support multiple maps from the start that would lack details and some polish...
But again it's too long compared to "Go to GMod with your mode!" so what I would know.
I'm tired of people using those loud words in every possible situation. It's simply ruining any potential of critique towards mode and downgrading word like in that one South Park episode when they said word "Shit" over 160 time.
You at least gave some reasoning but those one-liners down there is no-brainer. Here is some people that have actual questions like "How does it fit overall aesthetic and dynamic of a game?", "It is not looks very in style of game" etc and etc. But like other half of comments just spamming mocking statements with 0 even opinion about map itself - just "Slop mode! No/Not Interested".
Standards are good, but reasoning behind them is more viable simply because in other way we would have not creative supportive community but 2 angry mobs pushing out and calling each other names.

Pretty solid map nonetheless
