I wish I knew more about how to work with the water and visual effects to be honest. From what I researched when building up the mechanics, most of Source's water effects don't work when the water is meant to be moving water. There's also apparently a bug where the water tries to drag you towards the world origin while you're in it? They definitely didn't intend for you to do something like this lol.
I'm hoping Portal 2: Community Edition lets me refine this a little further. I know the water dragging thing is fixed there at least. This map was actually my portfolio for getting on their beta tester program so we'll see what comes out of it

and right you are being proud of this, this is really cool!
my main issue is that it looks a little bit weird when shooting a portal on water or being underwater though :P maybe some splash or fog effects?

Thank you! The re-triggering of the crystal is actually a mechanic I'd like to work into a puzzle some time in the future. Here, it's just soft-lock prevention :)

I thought this was cute at first, and then every next part I got more excited! Great map, I appreciated the small detail of a panel appearing the prevent re-triggers of the crystal.

It's fun to see a mechanic from Super Mario 64 implemented into Portal in a way that creates some interesting problems to work through
