Meh.

Very nice challenge. But then reading the comments, it became clear I had missed the "secret" room. Started again at the beginning and saw what should have been obvious to me the first time--*sigh*.

How you do this map?,Maybe whit Hammer World Editor
nintendo.erk  [author] 8 Jul, 2019 @ 10:14am
No ninja moves are requred, nor any fast portals or extreme skill. solve it with logic or break it with some gel juggling... Really sorry you can't see the logical solution and blame the map and author of your own stupidity!
Vroooooom 8 Jul, 2019 @ 9:35am
You need to be a fucking trained speedrunner to do this, with the looking over the edge trick bullshit.
you should put a warning sign on these stupid annoying levels.
Vroooooom 8 Jul, 2019 @ 9:31am
Dear nintendo guy.
Fuck you
nintendo.erk  [author] 24 Dec, 2016 @ 10:10am
Use portals to get out of the observation room ;)
sZenji™ 24 Dec, 2016 @ 10:09am
i found the potato but then i were unable to get out then i must reset :(
ChrisLP 25 Dec, 2015 @ 9:19pm
Damn, jumping to the exit was really hard but i've found the potato before exiting, so that's for you to tell if that's intended. Besides, the gate doesn't open so i guess it is.
TG 2 Oct, 2015 @ 9:58am
Nice one.
kimist108 17 Jun, 2015 @ 2:40pm
Just watched Prototype's videos. I finished by doing what he did in the 'basic' video. This had to be the intended. Yes?
nintendo.erk  [author] 27 Apr, 2015 @ 8:05am
Thank you, I had as much trouble creating as you had playing.... This map was very exploitable when I first published it, it still has some unintended solutions which I will keep for players to find :)
dire.fcs 27 Apr, 2015 @ 12:46am
After a couple of failed tries I finally managd to finished this one, nice work with portaling.
nintendo.erk  [author] 1 Feb, 2015 @ 7:59am
Hehe, this map is packed with playerclip brushes already but I combined them with props so players don't notice it to keep everything clean ;)
Krowi 1 Feb, 2015 @ 7:18am
An easy solution is to add some invisible walls so people can't shoot portals on surfaces they shouldn't. It's a kinda dirty solution imo. Best solution is fixing the exploits people tell you in your feedback. If you want I can test your other maps in the future (or even help building them). Just let me know ;)
nintendo.erk  [author] 1 Feb, 2015 @ 6:24am
Thanks you for the compliment.
This map must be one of my most broken maps yet. I had a PeTI beta version playtested and I knew how to make it solid. The thing is I made it in a very open style introducing way too much alternative routes...
Krowi 1 Feb, 2015 @ 3:50am
Nice map, ik comments can be hard sometimes but you'll learn from it. I made some maps myself and I tested all of them on my own without anyones feedback. If you do that you will have to hotfix some exploits, but after that these maps are just very good made.
jgaultney 23 Jan, 2015 @ 11:52am
In my opinion, not that anyone asked, this map is hardly a 'disaster'. An author cannot be
expected to completely defend a complex map from a highly skilled player such as
Prototype. Second, and more important, since all three of Prototype's alternate solutions are
harder to perform than the intended solution, they shouldn't really need to be 'fixed' anyway.
nintendo.erk  [author] 22 Jan, 2015 @ 1:28pm
Thank you for the kind words :)
This is the reason I very rarely use gel in maps, I simply suck at it and than to use it in a style I did only one map before results in disaster ;)
I did indeed learn quite lot this time, you're absolutely right about that.
wildgoosespeeder 22 Jan, 2015 @ 11:35am
@nintendo.erk
Don't be. Think of it as a learning experience so you know what not to do next time.
nintendo.erk  [author] 22 Jan, 2015 @ 10:38am
Please accept my sincere apologies as I seem to have overlooked just about everything in this map. I really do feel kind of embarresed :O
nintendo.erk  [author] 22 Jan, 2015 @ 8:23am
Wow Prototype, you really are a pro ;)
I will fix both your creative solutions (I hope, but knowing you you'll probably break it again) but the gel juggle solution you and wildgoosespeeder found will be a lot harder to fix, I think if I replace the floor fizzler in the gel area with a flipping panel like in the pti version would fix it but than the player has to catch the cube when it respawns because the panel will kill the portal when the player steps of the button to get it, that's why placed a fizzler instead of a panel...
wildgoosespeeder 22 Jan, 2015 @ 12:40am
Holy crap, you are good Prototype. That's close to my idea but the difference with your version vs. my version is being skilled enough to align yourself to the portal surface and shooting without giving yourself some more time to setup the portal placement. I gave myself more time by having both portals on the ground at that instant as the blue gel just kept swinging through the portals.

By the way, test my maps Prototype! I need your gift of finding exploits! :P (Only if you want to. ;))
Prototype 22 Jan, 2015 @ 12:10am
A couple of solutions I found:

http://youtu.be/A7Vk6UDL1UE (basic) <- This might be the same juggling technique as wildgoosespeeder already found.
http://youtu.be/uIVMVYuANlk (creative)
http://youtu.be/iBgsJNjaalY (more creative)
wildgoosespeeder 21 Jan, 2015 @ 9:56pm
I think you should switch to the PotatOS gun when you grab her.
wildgoosespeeder 21 Jan, 2015 @ 9:54pm
I mean my gel juggling technique is still present, if I am fast enough.
wildgoosespeeder 21 Jan, 2015 @ 9:53pm
That needs a fix as it makes no sense why the cube would respawn if I fizzle GLaDOS by accident, which that makes no sense as she never had that problem in the single player campaign.
nintendo.erk  [author] 21 Jan, 2015 @ 9:43pm
Yeah, you can also use PotatOS. If you drop it in the goo a new cube spanws
wildgoosespeeder 21 Jan, 2015 @ 9:18pm
I remember your older solution video revealing you had to coat the cube in blue gel . I don't need to do that, even with the latest revision.

Otherwise, I like the changes you implemented. It works better.
ksnyder 21 Jan, 2015 @ 7:14pm
Got to end but took me forever to jump high enough to exit
nintendo.erk  [author] 21 Jan, 2015 @ 1:45pm
Ok, final update for today. Time for bed :)
Thanks again for your feedback, I think like this the player will get just enough guidance and still has to solve a puzzle.
I used your suggestion of moving the panel btw, the chamber is too small to make it unreachable from below.
nintendo.erk  [author] 21 Jan, 2015 @ 1:03pm
That would solve it indeed, i think if I just change the upper horizontal grate into glass this will be achieved without even (re)moving walls :)
I would however have to extend the newly added window up there...
wildgoosespeeder 21 Jan, 2015 @ 12:50pm
I like that removing wall suggestion better than my idea but the annoyance could be an issue. You could just move the wall instead of deleting it to be only accessible when standing near the button closest directly below the fizzler.
nintendo.erk  [author] 21 Jan, 2015 @ 12:45pm
I just added some signage to guide the player, I thought about removing the white surface on top of the grate in the main area so the fling would be mandatory to get to the gel and cube but that would make getting the cube on the button for the gel dropper very annoying.
Thanks a lot for your input.
wildgoosespeeder 21 Jan, 2015 @ 11:55am
@nintendo.erk
That advanced fling section I mentioned, you could take advantage of Old Aperture decay, like in the main single player story mode, to remind the player to do the advanced fling. Also, the commentary mode on Chapter 8 Test Chamber 16 [www.theportalwiki.com] reported players forgetting they had a portal gun to cross the gap without the excursion funnel because they became so accustomed to the element. That's why I think you should have a section like the one I am refering to.
nintendo.erk  [author] 21 Jan, 2015 @ 10:11am
Both issues fixed, thank you both again :)
nintendo.erk  [author] 21 Jan, 2015 @ 8:55am
@ jokmaster : Many thanks to you too for the demo. This is a very easy fix, I will place a window on the upper grate next to the portal surface like the pti version had so you can't reach it because the glass will stop the portal :)
nintendo.erk  [author] 21 Jan, 2015 @ 8:53am
@ wildgoosespeeder : Thanks a lot for showing me, to be honest I overlooked that but I do have a very nice fix in mind that also adds to the easthetics. As the theme is unfinished I will place wall parts and loose windows on top of the office chamber like the're ready to be placed as seen on construction sites. Than the player simply can't fire a portal from up there, I want to keep it open for the sake of the theme and the easter egg is better visible :)
Daoud Baba 21 Jan, 2015 @ 7:41am
{LINK REMOVED} no obcure tricks used, no used faillure of construction, just portals ;)
Daoud Baba 21 Jan, 2015 @ 7:03am
I did quite different to your solution but that was a good blue gel test in a very nice construction !
wildgoosespeeder 20 Jan, 2015 @ 10:30pm
http://rctaddict.adryheat.net/old_aperture.dem

Sorry if the replay is kind of long. During demontration, I lost my concentration after failing to do my exploit a few times. The fling near the exit I performed, I tried to do the normal blue gel bounce but kept getting clipped slightly by the edge. Also if you patch the hole on the roof (my recommended way of fixing the issue), I don't know if other will be able to make the connection to fling the way you did in your solution video because the area to perform it is grated off and not very well highlighted. You may want to create a smaller section that deals with the advanced fling to give players a subtle hint what to do in the main area. Also the fizzler hovering over the button (where I jumped in the demo, move it higher or grate the gap where you can shoot portals.
wildgoosespeeder 20 Jan, 2015 @ 9:55pm
OK, I know I didn't solve this as intended. I did it completely differently! I'll be sure to upload a *.dem shortly.
nintendo.erk  [author] 20 Jan, 2015 @ 1:36pm
There, should be fixed now. Thanks again :)
DeathWish808 20 Jan, 2015 @ 12:49pm
*ridiculous

/Grammar Nazi out
nintendo.erk  [author] 20 Jan, 2015 @ 12:48pm
Ok, that fits in the category rediculous solutions ;)
But nonetheless needs fixing, it's a very easy fix, thanks a lot for showing.
DeathWish808 20 Jan, 2015 @ 12:48pm
Ha, Hex broke it like I did in the PTI version basically. Nicely done, Hex71! :-P
nintendo.erk  [author] 20 Jan, 2015 @ 11:49am
@Hex71 : thanks, I hope it's not to breaky ;)
@Deathwish808 : thanks a lot for your video, was fun to finally see you solve the puzzle like intended. Also congrats on finding and solving the easter egg puzzle, well done :D
Hex71. 20 Jan, 2015 @ 11:35am
ill post a link when my videos is uploaded
DeathWish808 20 Jan, 2015 @ 11:26am
I didn't see any ways to break it now. Hammerizing fixed everything from the PTI version. Seems like another puzzle as usual just from the looks at first. Another good one and you finally get to watch me do it intended (I hope) this time. This was the only other thing I could think of in the PTI without doing stupid stuff.
