If I remember correctly, the best strategy at playtesting is to kill off the single AI player that is fighting the player separated from the rest. You need to fully control that area before turning your attention to the 2 AI players across the river. Brute force is needed to defeat the separate AI player and a combination of co-ordinated attacks across the bridge and the river are typically the more effective against the AI players across the river.
As before, this mission was made many years ago. The many balancing changes in the game itself may have made this much more harder than it was originally intended to be.
