Wish I could say the other cosmetic mods I installed would work. (They don't)

IIRC in the unmodded game there's a % chance that randomly generated soldiers will generate with facepaint, which one they get is pulled from the pool of ones that're installed.

I've been using AML and I never saw any of these tattoos/face-paints. Do you have to explicitly select them or soldier may appear with random ink?

Damn, this was one of my faves. Since it was last updated in 2016 and just died with the new launcher, I hesitate to say that I think it's gone.

@Eziles Rameis: Use the community launcher, the official one is a piece of trash, quite literally.

stopped working, along with Commander's Choice as the new launcher sees these mods as for XCOM vanilla only, it worked for me literally few days ago, idk what changed :(

I believe that's face E, it's one of the few good ones in vanilla.

I recently finished another xcom playthrough and wanted to thank you, Replika, for your face paints. My soldiers have rocked these good looks for many years and many playthroughs. That collar paint is a big MVP! Thank you for the work you've done.

If you are having issues with the mod working with WOTC, there is a fix.
Edit the .XComMod file (in this case "ReplikantsCustomFacePaints.XComMod") found in the mod directory (steam/steamapps/workshop/content/265800/619525059). When you open the file, you will see this at the top:

Title=Custom Face Paints
Description=A package of custom, handmade facepaints. JUST UPDATED!

Add "RequiresXPACK=true" (w/ out the quotes) below the description line and the mod will load. It should work for this mod, but won't work for every vanilla mod out there. If you need more explanation check out this thread: https://cs2bus.com/app/268500/discussions/0/2568690592363026091/

I have no clue as to why Firaxis does what it does, but I miss this mod.

When you play WoTC you see how extensive the changes it makes are, affecting almost every system in the game. Attempting to do that and maintain backwards compatability with a few thousand mods (or however many there are) would've meant WoTC wouldn't have come out for another decade or so.

@Lord Neccy - I agree.
I'm not a WotC player, yet I've come across a few mods now that have been updated for WotC and caused vanilla save game crashes. WotC seems to have been poorly thought out coding wise by Firaxis.
Let's hope this mod stays vanilla friendly for the majority of XCom2 owners and if required a WotC version made for those that have paid the same price again for a DLC.

Honestly I think that's really stupid. Why the hell do we need to even update the mods for WotC when Firaxis should have made WotC compatible with mods instead?

@Replicant - It would be awesome not to have the warning everytime I fire up my game.

@MelhemX: Are you sure this mod is causing the crashes? I'm using it in my WotC and I haven't had any crashes at all. I don't see the point of recompiling the mod and creating two versions unnecessarily, since they'd be functionally identical.

it would be better if you make a version for war of the chosen, it is not working with everyone, i am expericeing crashes resulting for non compatable mods

@khay✨chi the only way to remove the warning tag is to make mods that only work with WOTC. So building up the mod again in modbuddy, having to make changes twice for updates, spending twice as long uploading, all to get rid of a little icon and reduce their total number of subscribers because one version wont work with vanilla. Not a lot of modders want to do that.

Works great with WotC(at least for me), a compatiblity tag for WotC would be still nice, so it doesn't show up as outdated anymore.

This mod does appear to be in working order; nothing seems to have broken. The only issue is the same "not compatible" tag that literally every mod got hit with, which means nothing aside from that it wasn't made with War of the Chosen's new tools.

@Rakirian: According to Arkhangel, Facepaints seem to work with it. So, try it, maybe it will. :x

@Replikant: A shitload of mods that aren't voice-packs or vanilla-classes got broken. Including many customization-mods.

@Rakirian: I sadly can't afford War of the Chosen right now, so I can't test it. Unless they made some drastic changes to the customization system, I think it should work fine!

Does this mod work with War of the Chosen expansion? Because if not, pwease! This is an amazing mod and I use it for alot of my soldiers! ^^ Would be really sad if these great paints won't be in anymore :-/
