It was actually just right as it was, another puzzle may have bin too much. I really hope you touch up those few things i mentioned in the livestream, I'd love to favorite this map cause the puzzle is so good (if you need more detail into what i was talking about, feel free to add me on steam and we can discuss that in greater detail). @TS_Mind_Swept - Thank a lot for the video, we've come full circle now lol. Now I see about the whole lack of rails/autosave thing. I did a lot of playtesting to determine the kind of jump it would make but I didn't consider that scenario. I'm glad you enjoyed! I'd made this puzzle a long time ago for someone but didn't release it, so it was nice to revisit and rework it. There was originally supposed to be two puzzles, and the elevator at the end was meant to send you down to the next one, but I decided to cut it and just have it go up instead. Thanks for the video and playing!

Yours starts at about 1:46:09. Sorry it's a bit loud, I'm not sure how to alter that (I've lowered it on OBS several times and it still seems to be an issue <<shrug>>), just be sure not to have your volume on max when you start the video, that way you aren't blown away. ;p

Amazing map :p2cube: Little nitpicks & such:

> Add a soundscape (using an env_soundscape near the player; I recommend ug_sphere_water_02 or similar).
> Add some rails at the end of those long jumps. One of those autosaves was actually dangerous because of the lack of rails!

@wildgoosespeeder - Thank you! Yes, I agree. It was a little worse before actually, I had two global_ents (the normal one and the PTI one), I thought it'd help the ambience, but it just turned out super foggy and grey. I'll add a bunch of extra lighting structures next time. Thanks again.

An excellent puzzle complemented by a fitting and well-constructed theme. Amazing work! Only thing I see that can be improved is the atmospheric lighting...but it hardly affects my overall opinion on the map. You've done well! I salute you, my friend!

A surprisingly good front page map! My only gripe is that the enrichment sphere is not very well lit. The testing space is fine and the puzzle makes you think, but the rustic steel sphere could use some better lighting. That's just being nitpicky as I said. :steammocking: Don't let that discourage you! :steamhappy:

I HATE how the tags are "Bounce Gel" and "Speed Gel" when it's repulsion gel and propulsion gel.

Hey again,

sorry when I annoys you, but please don't misunderstand me ...I actually like your map, thats the reason why I spent much time on it to find more things and alternate ways.

At first I thought I found a new and better alternate route to solve it by using only 3 portals, but the ceiling, where the blue gel dropper is, is 1 voxel too high for that. ^^ ...what else.

@zedxenon - Oops, that's not good. I think maybe adding a wall would remove the open-ended-ness feel to the chamber, so I think I'll move the autosave so that it triggers when you land on the platform for sure. I had a similar problem in Portal Stories: Mel actually, so I know what you mean.

@RectorRocks - Thanks for your time and the video. I know what you mean about the emptiness... I don't think I'll add any extra detail for now, but I'll keep it in mind for future underground maps. As for the lasers, I guess this is all non-canon :P Maybe I'll have to find an old laser model in the future so it's inkeeping with the theme though.

Good underground puzzle! Glad to see an underground Hammer map. Haven't seen those for a while! Visuals are great but the exterior is a little dark and empty. I don't know if its the fog or the lack of lights but from the third screenshot it looks dark. Also, lasers underground is kind of weird.

When I did the fling the first time I flew over the platform into the goo. The game autosaved and continued to fling me to my death, so I had to restart the chamber. Add a wall the the back of the platform with the laser receptacle so this doesn't happen.

at first: thank you for your map.
It was fun, it was good, thumbs up ...i like it! :)

Yesterday I played the "best 10 of the last week" at the workshop and recorded all gameplays/blindruns.
This map is the only one (! 1 of 10 :rcry:) , which contains a puzzle and isn't ugly.

@ iron0golem Portal 2 Authoring Tools, which you can find under Library > Tools. There are loads of really good resources out there on creating your first custom map. If you're completely new to custom mapping check out BEEMOD which I think you can just Google for. It's a modded version of the in-game map editor which is a good starting point. Good luck :)
