After I played the remake by Stract I came back for this one to give it a thumbs up :steamhappy:

I... definitely overcomplicated that one. When I got the cube into the starting room, I already was only a couple steps away from completing it . Maybe it's the large size of the chamber that made me think it's harder than it actually is, I dunno :P
Not sure if you fixed all the exploits though, since when you put the cube, again, in the starting room, use it to redirect the laser into the polarity laser catcher and then ride the reversed funnel all the way back to the emitter, you can get stuck there

great puzzle, just the right amount of difficulty

Very nice!

Great map. Took me a while as I was overthinking the final moves. Tried directing the laser up to the ceiling. Did not work. Thanks for your work!

I really love your maps. In many authors puzzles, I am able to move forward for a while doing "what feels right" but always finding a place with the "well, what now?" predicament. Sometimes this state persists for so long that solving no longer feels fun. Your "what now" quandaries, usually (can't say "always" as you have stumped me a couple of times:steamhappy:), last long enough to be challenging but short enough to not be frustrating. In this case, having sucked myself out of the entry room and sitting against the emitter...realizing that a quick portal move and back again will put both the cube and myself back in the entrance area. . Awesome "Yes!" feeling.

Still awesome!

Very nice. I only needed to repeat one step because of a careless placement of a portal.

This was a great map. Made me think for a sec, and in the process gave me some ideas for my own puzzles :).

well designed :upvoted:

@Joric Stract and I are good friends and I gave him express permission to remake this puzzle in Hammer. He didn't steal it, or copy it, it's an official remake sanctioned by me.

Remade by Struct here: https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1154580338 solution is the same.

Thanks, SkyGlass! Glad you enjoyed it.

Smooth puzzle, and its great there's no rush. Your easier puzzles are as fun as the harder ones.

@Tronsnake Thank you! Really glad you enjoyed it

This has to be one of my favorite puzzles. I was facepalming so hard when I realised that you had to drop the cube into the starting room and go back in.

Short, sweet, and a good map to play while uploading a longer video. Might make it a tradition to play the first few maps in your collection during that downtime. Nice work!

@PixelPerfect Thanks very much!

Nice Puzzle! I love how you repeat previous actions for different reasons or different ways. Keep it up!

Really good map! At first I was a bit confused, but when I figured out the solution I was very happy.

Great map!!
Demon Arisen  [author] 4 Feb, 2017 @ 4:22pm
@DeathWish808 Thank you! :D Funnels and Lasers are undoubtedly my favourite test elements - you can do a lot of very complex puzzles with lasers, and funnels are the most versatile test element - they're so versatile that they can interact with almost every other test element in some way.
DeathWish808 4 Feb, 2017 @ 12:01pm
Love your use of funnels and lasers. After playing a couple it makes the solutions to others much easier to see though. Not a bad thing. Love it.

Oh right, must've misread, alright then!
Demon Arisen  [author] 16 Jan, 2017 @ 8:49am
@Mr Vapour Waterhandle That's my intended solution! Where did I say it was only there if you get stuck? The portal surface I added in the top left corner of the large grated platform is there in case you get stuck on the platform where the laser emitter is, but that's the only surface which is only there in case you get stuck...
Mr Vapour Waterhandle 16 Jan, 2017 @ 8:44am
Wait, how is the surface ceiling at the beginning only if you get stuck? I used it to pull myself up with the reversed funnel to be carried all the way to the lazer cube and portal it away back to the start. Kind of solved it by just messing around, but still pretty cool. I think a glass floor so you can immediately see the exit would be better, though it's a minor thing since it was easily found.
bullfrog 6 Dec, 2016 @ 2:51am
That was brilliant, I really enjoyed that. I worked out pretty quickly what I needed to get where and how, but thought, "no that won't work", so dicked around for quite a while, then thought "stuff it" and gave it a go - failed 1st time, but saw the 'light' and completed 2nd time with a gurt big smile on my face... sad isn't it! Thank you

Awesome!

Really fun to solve. I'm horrible at making laser puzzles. Thumbs up and Favorited.
zigzagtenniscoe 27 Aug, 2016 @ 5:11pm
ohh I see. That makes more sense. :)
Demon Arisen  [author] 27 Aug, 2016 @ 4:17pm
@zigzagtenniscoe Thanks! :) That portalable surface is only there in case you get trapped in the section with the laser emitter by placing both portals in that area.
zigzagtenniscoe 27 Aug, 2016 @ 11:37am
Took me a little extra bit longer because I didn't notice the portalable ceiling in the beginning area. Thought I got trapped once I got over there using the reverse funnel! Just goes to show I should always look around more when solving portal lol. In any case I've gone on long enough, you get the point, nice map as always. Keep it up!
zigzagtenniscoe 27 Aug, 2016 @ 11:35am
Very clever and fun as always. Solution was a little easier then I previously thought before I knew the actual solution. Took me, I don't know, a little less then 10 minutes. Thumbs up. One thing though, while I was solving I noticed a corner of the map that had portalable surfaces on it. It was in a top corner, from the top of the map it only went down two blocks on each side of the corner and didn't include the ceiling. I'd thought that you'd need to fling the cube with that to make it go over that way but I never ended up using it... so my question is is it just for aesthetic purpoes? Or was it meant to be a part of the solution? Either way, very nice map.
Demon Arisen  [author] 11 Jun, 2016 @ 2:26am
@toncica @p0rtalmaster Sorry I took so long to fix this, but the exploits should be fixed now! :)
toncica 10 Jun, 2016 @ 2:22pm
Should be self-explanatory when you read the comments. Having fun, as announced. ;)
The Sojourner 10 Jun, 2016 @ 1:50pm
@toncica, can you explain please?
toncica 10 Jun, 2016 @ 1:28pm
And now broken means solid. Interesting place.
The Sojourner 10 Jun, 2016 @ 1:11pm
This one looks solid :p2cube: Good work!
Demon Arisen  [author] 2 Jun, 2016 @ 10:50am
@toncica Hmm you're right I probably ought to fix this really...
toncica 2 Jun, 2016 @ 9:00am
I'll probably have some fun with this, seeing that at this place "as soon as I can" means "as soon as I care or want to". ;)
