It's ok doing a hard chamber, but please add some save-checkpoints so we don't have to do everything again if we fail, specially on a long one such as this

The map is not bad, of medium difficulty.

You may have played my map Psychedelia 01?. that there is a section of the map with two input laser to make up for 2 years.

You can see my maps:

I especially liked the laser puzzle at the start. that was the best. i had a really hard time finding the exit for the room the the sphere and franken-cube. i also had a hard time getting to the companion cube in the last chamber, so i don't think i did it correctly. i can get kinda creative with flings. overall, good, but the exits need to be more visible.

I like the whole concept and the laser puzzle, but other rooms are too trivial and easy. Map has a lot of dark panels and not so much light source, i don't like such maps, but i gave it a thumb up ;)

this was fun

fun map liked the idea of having multiple chambers in one
Geneosis 6 Jul, 2012 @ 2:18am
For all the maps : I suggest replacing the angled pannels used as door by light bridges (and fizzler if needed)... I got stuck in almost all those pannels because they deployed on me ^^"

Anyway, the global design was nice and coherent, liked it!
Geneosis 6 Jul, 2012 @ 2:18am
Really liked the first laser test! Found the solution a bit randomly ^^" But it was cool...

I waste a lot of time trying to survive the turrets in the second room using the light bridge... Then I realised that I could just portal myself with the turrets and kill them manually X)

I don't know what the button you press because the faith plate propulse you on was for, but you can eventually skip it if you don't use the faith plate...
The funnel in the third map is a bit useless : you can just place a portal on each side of the fizzler when it is desactivated and use them to transport the cubes ^^

My only remark about the fourth room... Was that I lost so much time searching where was the exit when I completed the puzzle X) Maybe add more light to make it more visible ;)

That was fun, I was sad when it ended.
natj13 23 Jun, 2012 @ 2:34pm
You need to add a silver unicorn to the test chamber

Hey guys, doing the last test chamber is useless. The door is already open.
kanera 8 Jun, 2012 @ 8:17pm
hey, Freezer091, you only suscribe to the map and done.
Now the opinion, you are so awsome, how could you think in this tests, so OMG
Cobalt_Goat 8 Jun, 2012 @ 7:02pm
SERRIOUSLY, how do I download maps?
Stag:Child 8 Jun, 2012 @ 1:55pm
definitly put checkpoints! it was so annoying to have to re do everything if you died in one of the later parts. Otherwise great map!
pink love pupies 7 Jun, 2012 @ 11:31pm
not that ive tried it yet
pink love pupies 7 Jun, 2012 @ 11:31pm
this seems pretty good
whalenailer  [author] 7 Jun, 2012 @ 10:18pm
hey thanks man :) yeah you could use the gel, i didnt even realize you could do that haha wow, thats actually an awesome compliment
jeero 7 Jun, 2012 @ 9:16pm
Absolutely loved this map. The last room had me thinking the most for some reason. Not sure if the orange gel was meant to be used (in a previous room), cause I finished that room without using it at all, just needed the beam.

Definitely two thumbs up, best community map I have played so far!

Thanks for testing my maps and giving me feedback, it means more than you would think.
whalenailer  [author] 7 Jun, 2012 @ 12:31pm
thanks guys, and idk what to do about checkpoints either, that would be a nice feature to add. and will do Stealth
Backgrounds' 7 Jun, 2012 @ 6:38am
That is pretty hard to beat, please try my redirection collection, no ones tryed it yet and i want to know if its pretty hard or not.
pinkie 7 Jun, 2012 @ 5:37am
GREAT MAP after I beat the first one however it was kind of easy to beat the others I spent like half an hour on the first test( i know I suck) but then did the rest in 10 mins
O'Brian 7 Jun, 2012 @ 4:29am
The first puzzle was smart. After that, I have hated jumped under the acid with the cube. This is an artificial difficulty for me. It's not cool to die this way. I also don't know why you put 3 plates. I used only the last one. Concerning the big "repulsive gel tunnel", it wasn't really fun for me. I mean, I did it but it was more by luck than everything else. This kind of test needs some checkpoints to be better. I know, I designed a very hard test myself and everyone was bored because of the absence of checkpoint. But the problem is: how to do it? I don't know :-(
whalenailer  [author] 6 Jun, 2012 @ 7:16pm
thanks, i just fixed it, hopefully that will solve all the problems
Glifter 6 Jun, 2012 @ 6:45pm
nice map. two things. first i was able to use the frankencube to knock the sphere down so i didn't use the button for the stairs. second i brought the frankencube with me to the end.
whalenailer  [author] 6 Jun, 2012 @ 2:41pm
yeah, i see what you're saying, so it'd be better if i just remove the grid? that makes sense. i'll fix that now :) wow, thanks, im glad i stumped you for a while :p
Hobbert 6 Jun, 2012 @ 2:28pm
Yeah, I saw the light bridge, but if I remember correctly there was an emancipation grid at the entrance to the room, so you had to run past the turrets when you enter the room. They just pinned me against the wall immediately with their bullet knock-back x.x

Still, I can tell it's an awesomely made test chamber otherwise, the first puzzle was awesome, longest I've spent trying to work something out since I started playing community made test chambers, and that's a good thing! xP
whalenailer  [author] 6 Jun, 2012 @ 10:39am
i think its kind of a combination of both for the most part. and thanks :) and i think you tried to solve the second part wrong because once you press the button a light bridge comes and you use that to block the turrents, then its quite simpe to kill them. but i do see what you are saying with the FPS/reflexes and next time i will fucus more on the puzze aspect.
Hobbert 6 Jun, 2012 @ 1:29am
I got past the first turret/area, although I thought that the way the turrets are setup in this test chamber is sort of missing the point of a puzzle game, I don't think it should be about reflexes/FPS shooter orientated skills; I think it should be about problem solving.

I will say I really liked the laser puzzle in the first area, having to line up the portals just right and shoot it through them multiple times to be able to carry on was great. But I stopped playing once I got shot to pieces by a row of turrets, that apparently I was supposed to just run through and place up portals as quickly as possible. That's not a puzzle. Maybe it's personal taste, but you might want to consider adding unique and creative ways to disable/avoid the turrets instead! :)
whalenailer  [author] 5 Jun, 2012 @ 7:19pm
Which turret? the one in that very first room? are you saying you cant get past it or that the entire level itself is not problem solving?
Hobbert 5 Jun, 2012 @ 7:11pm
So, I might be missing something, but in my opinion this isn't really a puzzle. Portal is about problem solving skills, this test chamber seems to be more about reflexes/FPS shooter related skills, at least intially. I couldn't be bothered trying to get past that turret.
whalenailer  [author] 5 Jun, 2012 @ 6:58pm
ok, i think i fixed everything, care to give that last room another go?
whalenailer  [author] 5 Jun, 2012 @ 6:24pm
thank you for the comment, i really appreciate it, i added more white walls and im tying to think of a way to remove that turret problem. oh,you mean the speed gell room? i see what youre saying. haha yeah, i guess i forgot to delete that when i was making the map. thanks :D
good_weather 5 Jun, 2012 @ 6:10pm
I think i solved your puzzle in a different way as you planned it. There are a lot of isolated white walls i didn't use. I prefer to keep as many white fields as possible. So it doesn't give the player any hint where to use portals.
In the second room with the five turrets i didn't use the one sphere button light bridge. I simply made a portal above the turrets and knocked them over. I avoided the water using portals. After that there is the repulsion gel which you don't need to get past that obstacle since you can make a portal at the top, going through and shooting the next portal right after falling down on the ceiling of the hallway.
I have to admit that i didn't really get the last room. You actually can just make a portal next to the top balcony like floor and you are done. I tried solving this another way but i kept using the balcony for some of the steps. Also i didn't figure out what to do with the light bridge.
Please don't take it as grumbling. I gave you a thumbs up :D
