For the second puzzle, if you're stuck you might want to read this hint:
You can paint the cube with propulsion (orange) gel. I think many people didn't even know this was coded in the game or never used this.

2nd time round solving and this still took me FAR too long! :-)
I was forever trying to work out how to get the Orange Gel on the ramp to get the cube on the button, when I suddenly realised there was a grating at the bottom which would prevent the cube from sliding that far Eureka!
Great map

This one was definitely challenging until you have that ‘Eureka!’ moment. Another excellent map—thank you for creating it.

Blindrun
First one wasn’t too bad, but dunno why I didn’t realize I didn’t need the runway at the last part - nor was it possible to use it sooner. Only solved the second chamber when I looked at the comments and received a little accidental inspiration: you could argue that I got spoiled a little, but I literally only saw the words ”cube” and “cover” . The second I did so it clicked immediately what needed to be done. The inspiration could have come from literally anywhere else, and likely would have had I not figured it out entirely on my own in due time, so I consider it merely time saved personally.

While it was very stupid of me to not think of the mechanic earlier, as it’s used in a chamber in Portal Stories: Mel , it also would have been nice if it were hinted at a little more explicitly somehow, or perhaps have a similar mechanic introduced in a prior chamber. I suppose you could argue that the shape of the panels give away that something (the cube) is supposed to be “dumped down” below, as opposed to a portal linkage allowing the player to manually place the cube on the fizzler button , but I couldn’t help but feel I needed to do it the other way. I guess you tried to hint at the proper solution with the arrows, but I kept assuming the floor was what needed painting, not the cube.
zigzagtenniscoe 10 Jul, 2024 @ 9:01pm
I can’t remember whether I caught it on tape or not, but I did experiment with cheesing it via placing a portal in the ramp room, placing the cube at the edge of the button, and throwing it into the portal , so I probably could have made it through the door anyhow.

In any case, for the multiple cases of ingenuity present throughout this chamber, this is getting the highest score yet out of any of your puzzles (besides Polarity), and also the highest difficulty rating (also besides Polarity). And, of course, a favorite.

Difficulty: 7.5/10
Enjoyed: 8.5/10

how you make these maps work out is amazing.
boyou 17 Sep, 2023 @ 8:44am

Very challenging map.
Groovy-Gravy 23 Mar, 2023 @ 12:24pm
Great map. Tho I'd have liked it more if somehow the tests before the last one had reminded me abt the cubes covered in orange gel slide mechanic and saved me some time.
Otherwise, great tests and very creative
GSC 15 Dec, 2022 @ 6:20pm
The puzzle has been changed, hasn't it? I've played it just now after many months and the differences have tripped me up, LOL.
VanCanucksFan 29 Oct, 2022 @ 4:13pm
Very challenging, I struggled on the last part and had to read the hints posted here
yukidae 5 Sep, 2022 @ 2:36pm
a little hint for anybody who needs it: just because there's a button doesn't mean the cube must press it. You can just place the cube somewhere else and place yourself on the button.
Stan The Man 13 Jul, 2022 @ 4:02am
Very nice indeed, although in the second map you have to discover something....Great fun.
SpielSatzFail 30 Apr, 2022 @ 10:34pm
Great map, though the second part was a bit too convoluted imo. Thumbs up!
SaSSolino 19 May, 2021 @ 10:35am
Top tier 2nd puzzle!
HP2 25 Mar, 2021 @ 7:30pm
First half is a bit annoying because of the backtracking.
The second half is simple when you get it, but it took my a while to get it; which makes you an evil person, just like Chell.

If you want one or two hints, here you go:
1. The portalable surface over the jump through the finish isn't there for nothing!
2. The cube looks nicer in orange
crhoaviet6 10 Mar, 2021 @ 10:09pm
Noooo, this is one of my favorite maps of all time! The second half is brilliant. (Evil, but brilliant.)

I agree:steamthumbsdown:
Snoodle 24 Feb, 2021 @ 9:25pm
This map is fucking frustrating, the first two tests are honestly pretty good but the last one. The last one makes me want to dislike this map so fucking hard like holy shit. It's a good test but holy shit I would be lying if I said it wasn't frustrating. Fuck you, fuck this map. This is a great fucking map, 600 hours and this is one of the only maps that has actually made me mald irl.

Spider_Dawg 26 May, 2020 @ 3:22pm
Another excellent puzzle, just the right level of difficulty for me, not too easy and not too hard. For me the part that held me up wasn't the button, it was the ramp and cube at the exit . I kept trying to gel the ramp to make the cube slide down .
Bezil 9 May, 2020 @ 11:26am
Jeez. Got stuck on the second part, had to take a break. Brilliant.
Turmoil 23 Apr, 2020 @ 7:03pm
I did a speedrun of Reversal; Connection, and Addition @8:10, 14:50, and 18:10 respectively https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5ogaLFFSnQ

Will you ever return to making maps? You are one of my favorite map makers.

Great puzzle! Nice to have these during the quarantine. Thanks for creating.
bullfrog 27 Mar, 2020 @ 2:02pm
Played this brilliant map 3 years ago and it's still just as good. I remembered a key part after I'd been in the second second puzzle for a moments, so that was a lot easier this time.
blade996 28 Nov, 2019 @ 11:32am
The first part is OK even if reaching the last jump to the exit and finding it blocked ruins all the satisfaction of getting there. But the second part of this map is completely ridiculous, I've never seen anything so stupid and unnecessarily frustrating! Designing puzzles like this with "secret" solutions that the designer knows will cause players hours of wasted time with no pleasure goes beyond challenging and is frankly just the designer ego-tripping about how "clever" he is. Shame!
Calwin 25 Sep, 2019 @ 4:54am
Cool map. I knew the sliding solution right away when I stepped into that room. Somehow I forgot about it and it took me some time to revisit the idea, then the solution unfolded pretty straightforwardly.
λ☭λ SλKÉ λ☭λ 13 Aug, 2019 @ 7:06am
It's like watching progress in action. Increased deception/magician tactics, or psychological tricks. I find it interesting that the puzzle is so very simple yet apparently nearly impossible to see. Not physically, of course, but getting past what your brain is telling you is a difficult process.
GSC 18 Jul, 2019 @ 9:04am
This is not medium difficulty, this is outright hard. The last step of part 1 is cunning but incredibly misleading, as is the solution of part 2. Had to look up both answers and was not amused that the more intuitive solutions I was pursuing were impossible to execute to begin with.
Vroooooom 9 Jul, 2019 @ 8:20am
I don't want to know what Difficulty--hard is like.
johnb 27 Apr, 2019 @ 10:04am
Fiendishly good! I got stumped and had to reach out for help on youtube. Once I saw the key to the 2nd room, I was like Wheatly: "Oh yes." Nice.
hfmanson 20 Mar, 2019 @ 4:16am
Excellent level!
Petutski 30 Jan, 2019 @ 8:24pm
Excellent map. Diabolically excellent! Thanks!
Leo 24 Aug, 2018 @ 2:40am
Brilliant! I loved both rooms -- or rather both parts, because you can't really call those rooms -- and the trick for the second one was very clever and original! I overcomplicated it a lot, but when I came back to my senses it was very satisfying to solve!
Ick Am Su 17 Aug, 2018 @ 3:08pm
Holy Moly my brain hurts.
KØ414 B33R 14 Jun, 2018 @ 3:11pm
Frustraringly awesome!
fonaro 9 Apr, 2018 @ 4:57am
It took me hours! This is the first map I can remember that require putting propulsion gel on a cube. I didn't even know it was possible. This test might need a preliminary training before. Otherwise, it is just frustrating.
n/a 18 Feb, 2018 @ 9:48am
Very clever, I do agree that the button in the "attic" should be changed to a pedestal one though. Unnecessarily misleading otherwise.
Minato Kageaki 20 Jan, 2018 @ 12:06am
thank you for reminding me that the friction bewteen two objects works one aonther.
really interesting and i'll through all your others chambers.

This really defines thinking out of the box.
Chron 16 Aug, 2017 @ 12:05am
I don't like the last part. Everything else was straight-forward, but the last part left a bad taste in my mouth. I kept scratching my head thinking there's a clever solution behind it, but it completely disappointed me. I had to read the comments for the solution and I can't believe that the cube would be able to travel such a distance from such a small amount of momentum .

Your other maps are great though.
JC Bent'em 12 Aug, 2017 @ 2:17pm
I think the main part is that the button that opens the hatch is very misleading to what the actual way to solve it is. It would've been easier if the button was a pedestal button on a very short timer.
Players will often think they need to put a cube there even though they dont need to put a cube there at all.
JC Bent'em 12 Aug, 2017 @ 2:13pm
First test chamber in a long time to ever stump me like that.
JC Bent'em 12 Aug, 2017 @ 2:12pm
This was great but oh my god the last part was horribly hard to figure out compared to the rest of the entire puzzle. Mostly because I thought It wouldn't actually work.
