thumbs up!

Thumbs up, but spashing the conversion gel all around when the stream is so wimpy is tedious and boring. I was about 30 seconds away from no-clipping.

well i'll try the others and give feedback soon

Good looking map. None too difficult except the final room. I had fun chasing that darn blue cube and burnt myself a little aiming the laser cube. But getting that gel where I needed it was not going to happen. After twenty minutes I had a thick coat two blocks high with a small unusable patch here and there above that. Sorry to say I just gave out. Still after reading some comments I see it's not impossible. You have a very good map here. I'm working my way through your inventory. Keep em coming. A little treat from me.

i like the modular design

So did you attempt to destroy the cubes to see if it was possible or not? I struggled to find a way both when I initially published the chamber and in a recent retest to see if I had missed a trick. You must be aware of all the possible ways to destroy a cube, even the clear angled panel glitch, none of them are present in that last room without using a console command.
wildgoosespeeder 22 Sep, 2013 @ 7:18pm
The most common problem amongst almost all test chamber designers is that they fail to realize the potential for losing the cube. And it isn't tricky at all to permanently lose them either! Just get the cube droppers in there somehow.
nicklonium  [author] 22 Sep, 2013 @ 2:19am
The player isn't supposed to jump in the last area, that's far more complicated than the intended solution, all the player has to do is get the conversion gel somewhere useful, it's flowing in an arc for a reason.

Also, I'm not too worried about the two missing droppers. The player would have to put a lot of conscious effort into destroying either cube (or cheat) in the last area. Did you actually see if it was possible to destroy either cube or did you see the two missing droppers and assume I hadn't tested for such an obvious error? I'm not saying it's impossible, If you can find a way to destroy or lose either cube in the last area, I will see what I can do but it seems doubtful.

This chamber I didn't enjoy. Just getting a bunch of cubes delivered was too simple, but what I really disliked was the goo section where there was barely any space to do a proper jump. The glass gets in the way and would've preferred only that section to have high ceilings. In fact, you should've exposed the ceiling of that room and allow us to run around up there just for fun since we're in the last room anyway. That would've made this cool.
wildgoosespeeder 18 Sep, 2013 @ 8:27pm
Any chamber with goo and/or fizzlers needs a cube dropper for all involved cubes or else it risks accidental trapping.

Try my map?

This is probably the most interesting use of conversion gel I have seen. Beats the story. You are given conversion gel, and in most circumstances it would be easy to paint the whole room white. However, to my surprise, getting the gel in a useful spot was a challenge, mostly due to the extreme angle and low speed with which it leaves the portal. Hats off to you.

I just wanted to say thanks for the feedback on my map Swamp Maze, I fixed it so now you shouldn't be able to skip the middle section, I also added a few other fun things so feel free to check it out! As far as this map goes, Lithium is pretty good. I can agree with some other people about the angle you have to shoot the gel at (this always bothered me in official story as well), but otherwise no complaints. I played your map Helium, which I found quite frustrating and almost gave up. Once I found the portalable wall behind the corner it wasn't so bad. I'll try and get through the rest of the series when I have time. Cheers!

Was really good. the last part was tough though the angle of the gel made it a little annoying. but that the only flaw i could note
nicklonium  [author] 31 Aug, 2013 @ 7:11am
I assume that was due to the white surfaces near the exit door? They've now been removed, which also, rather conveniently, fixes Warthog's trapping issue, thanks again.
BlumCoLe' 31 Aug, 2013 @ 6:08am
I can skip the funnel in the last part. ;)
drumcoaster 30 Aug, 2013 @ 3:38pm
I was frustrated by the angle of the gel and gave up.
ram ranch 29 Aug, 2013 @ 10:03am
Awesome! I loved the bit with the conversion gel, even if it did take forever.
nicklonium  [author] 23 Aug, 2013 @ 11:40am
Oops, good spot, the inside of that area shouldn't be white at all, in fact, none of them should be. It's all been fixed, thanks for finding that little exploit. It sounds like you managed to trap yourself by your own mistake rather than something that I really need to fix. I originally had a fizzler in there to prevent the player from doing that but it had to be cut due to the item limit and I figured it would be difficult (and a little foolish) to trap yourself up there when the exit is in view and easy to get to.
Focused Bokeh 23 Aug, 2013 @ 9:45am
Nicklonium, it's super simple for anyone to press the button, put a portal behind them, put the second portal right under where the cube comes out, and grab it as it passes overhead. I think all you need to do to fix it is to make the space right under it, and to the left and right, unportable. As for how I got stuck in the exit, I'm pretty sure that I set the cube on the button that opens the hatch, put a portal up in the exit area and one down in the puzzle area, took the cube off of the button, thus closing the hatch, went through the portal and put a second portal inside the exit area, thus trapping myself. One idea I have is to need both cubes to start the funnel and just do away with the angled panel. I hope that helps! =)
nicklonium  [author] 23 Aug, 2013 @ 2:56am
Pretty sure I know how you did it, I'm surprised no ones pointed that out before. The last test is now slightly trickier/more annoying but the conversion gel should now be necessary.

Warthog, could you explain how you reached the cube in the second test? It seems possible to jump from the pedestal button and, with the right timing, grab the cube before it gets coated in gel but I'm fairly sure I fixed that problem. Also, how did you get stuck near the exit door? The funnel doesn't lift the player far enough to get stuck at the top.
DropTheDodongo 22 Aug, 2013 @ 8:53pm
I was able to cheat on the fourth part to get out easy without using the Conversion gel. I don't know if this is intentional but if you want more information let me know.
Focused Bokeh 20 Aug, 2013 @ 4:00pm
On the second test I was able to get the cube quite easily without the use of the cleansing gel, and it's possible to get stuck right by the exit door. I enjoyed being able to see all the puzzles as I was doing each one due to the glass which made it seem like one whole test instead of four which was nice.
Linking-Yellow 14 Aug, 2013 @ 7:58pm
its interesting.
Linking-Yellow 14 Aug, 2013 @ 7:57pm
It feels like there are puzzles in these, but that you are solving the puzzles for me and I'm just watching. idk.

Great chamber...really makes you think about what you have to do
kwyjibo 1981 21 Jul, 2013 @ 9:09am
Great map. I was even able to have the satisfaction of killing one of the turrets This is the part where I would normally say something critical, but I can't think of anything negative to say.
SSG Price 30 Jun, 2013 @ 3:09am
Great puzzle, Great design, but again, bad lightning and those turrets weren't necessary but kinda' added to the creepy feel :P
8MMW 20 Jun, 2013 @ 4:00am
The map felt a bit too big for its name, but still it was fun to play. It was rather easy, but in no way boring, so good job :)
NotSpecialDude 18 Jun, 2013 @ 6:57pm
Nice chamber, although I couldn't help but fry every turret I could it seems they weren't part of the test. Anyway nicely done.
nicklonium  [author] 18 Jun, 2013 @ 2:37am
That last room is much more free than the others, the player can literally place the conversion gel wherever they want to reach the cubes, although I think I may have thought of an alternate way of finishing it which I may need to tinker with.
tacticalBOVINE 17 Jun, 2013 @ 8:05pm
good chamber. not sure what you intended with the final room and the portalable goop but i think i did it a cheating way by jumping and just grabbing the cubes without the need for the goop. if that is what you intended then awesome! if not it may be something worth looking into. good chamber though bro.

Got some interesting points to it. The third room by far was the most interesting in puzzle.
Messenger 10 Jun, 2013 @ 3:03pm
Hahah I got stuck right at the end, I decided to play around with the cubes after activating the floaty tube thing and... well, I got trapped where the exit door and sentries were!
Blue 9 Jun, 2013 @ 5:23pm
Very nicely done. I wouldn't stress about portal bumping or grate glitching or whatever bugs can occur. Players who choose to use bugs... i suppose the loss is theirs and not the builder's. Also i did not use the last given cube in the 1st room. In the 2nd room you could make the cube blue before it appears on the room :) But besides that, grabbing the cube before it is blue, sounds like an extra puzzle, which is more difficult than catching it and cleaning it :)
nicklonium  [author] 9 Jun, 2013 @ 3:45am
There's always been a fair few problems with this one, particularly that second room. I'll have to tinker with it at some point to make the intended solution in the second room, the only solution.
Unfortunately, there's not much I can do about portal bumping without completely redesigning the chamber as it's a problem with the game rather than the chamber. The best I can do is hope players don't exploit the fairly well known glitch.
Thanks for playing and the feedback on all my chambers so far. I see you had a lot of fun in Helium, I'm still really proud of how that one turned out, especially because it was my first ever chamber.
SkyRoots 8 Jun, 2013 @ 8:30pm
Another fun one! Loved the turrets in the corners.

A few things I found that you probably didn't intend:
1) I didn't need the second cube in the first room. Used portals instead.
2) I was able to get the cube in the second room before the blue gel hit it. This means I did not need the cleansing gel either,
3) I was able to get that cube from the 2nd room into the 3rd room using portal bump. This didn't matter much since I didn't need it in the 3rd room anyway.

These are all things that can be prevented with the addition of a few non-portable walls.
Zalias 28 May, 2013 @ 1:30pm
I like your maps. I did, however, have some trouble with Titanium becuase the sphere wouldn't spawn the first time I played, and the second time I got stuck on a pad.
JBizzle 9 Jul, 2012 @ 11:15am
This is nicely done...
