I still don't know what caused that problem for you.
Testing the map over and over with a friend did not bring the same problem.
I will keep it in mind and maybe someday I will know how and why it happens.
Maybe someone else will have the same thing and notices how it happened.
You are right, this does indeed break the entire puzzle. =/
We spent a few hours on the map trying to disable the bridge somehow,
but it never happened to us so far. Tried a lot of things, but we were not
able to deactivate it with only 2 of the buttons.
We were walking on/off the buttons, jumped on them - nothing happened.
So I can't explain how this happened for you.
Could you please take some time and try to find out what steps are needed
to make this bug happen? We can't seem to figure out what the problem is
and you are (so far) the only person to have noticed this problem.
Any information (players positions, timing, method, what did you do before that)
can help to find the problem here. I will also look into it myself again.
A few tries should be enough, as soon as you know which button to press.
So I think the timing is not too short, it does not have to be perfect at first try. ^^
I know it is not what most people are looking for in portal, but I think it is short enough
for them to at least try it out and see if they like it even a little bit.
The 2nd part of the map is a shuffle puzzle - portal and player positions are
important and you have to maintain the right order of steps there. :-)
I think you should consider playing it again until you really understand
what is happening - and to see if you can solve it again and maybe grasp
all of it then. :-)
You already know my other map-series, so I dont have to tell you about it. ^^
This series was an introduction to basic teamwork concepts, when I created it a few years ago.
The new maps are a bit more challenging, but I guess most casual Portal 2 players
also like the easy and fun maps, so I created a nice mix of both fun and logic
puzzles with teamwork.
Could you please tell me some details about the light bridge
being disabled without the cube?
• Did it stay disabled all the time, altough you just pressed 2 buttons?
• Or did it just 'flicker' for a very short time?
• did you manage to turn it of long enough for the cube to reach the button?
I just tried it myself and I can make the bridge 'flicker' for a short time,
but the cube in the funnel wont actually go through it, though.
The flickering is okay - but if you got the funnel-cube through, without the cube-button,
then this would be bad.
The reason why you only have this on my maps is, that I use my own grate instances.
PeTI grates and glasses are quite ressource heavy and have bugs like grabbing
cubes through the grating - so I made my own instances to fix this.
Maybe I can find out what causes this visual problem, but so far I am
quite surprised , because it never happend on my side while testing the maps/grates.
Thanks for the screenshot and reporting it - i will try to look into it.
Here's what it looks like. It did leave the first time I tried changing settings, but then came back to stay with any settings. It must be on my side, since you can't replicate it, though these only appear on your maps, for some reason. Probably isn't worth looking into unless someone else mentions this :)
Thanks for letting me know about the trapping situation.
We did not notice this one while testing, really nice find.
Map has been updated, there is an emergency acid pit for this now. ^^
Could you please post a screenshot of the grating/texture/overlapping problem?
And please check your Portal 2 graphics settings and tell me what you selected there.
I personally do not have any problems with the grates,
so maybe it depends on the graphics settings.
But a nice map!
//Also, kinda off-topic, grating in a few maps of this series looks somewhat weird? Like there is an overlapping glitchy thing, not sure if that's just me, but jfyi
• 3 new maps have been added
• 4 existing maps have been updated, reworked and improved
• gameplay improvements and bugfixes (including engine related bugs)
• I strongly recommend to replay the entire map-series if you already know map 1-4
The video solution for each map has been uploaded on the workshop page, next to the thumbnail.
