It's a fast paced and awesome game, at first I'm hesitate to purchase this because of some design flaws but apparently the devs are very responsive. They have updated it and now those design flaws are fixed. Well design flaw is not a bug, it's intended but not quite welcoming to some people, including me, looks like many other have the same thought about it.

Okay let's do some reviews.

Monster Slayers is a roguelike side view with randomly drawn "action" cards. You could see that in the trailer right? You only have options in the card that have been randomly drawn. Some cards allow you to draw another.

You got HP, AP, and MP in your character. Some cards need certain AP or MP to use so use them wisely, pick a card that suit your strategy, sometimes you have to choose between a healing card or an attacking one with boosted stats. There are companions that will help you in your mission, but you can only bring one.

The map is simple, it's a cumulative of square nodes connected by lines, in every square there's some pictures that indicates what monster you'll be facing, what npcs, or even treasure. Sometimes you need to have skill to pick your fight, don't try to fight high levels if you are not ready. But who am I to lecture you how to fight? I'm no fighter, YOU ARE!!

So, what are you waiting for, grab your cash and go slay some monsters!

You like Rimworld do you?...

Yes this game is almost the same as the other. A colony simulation but this one is not focused in colony building, no inter character relationship or canibalism.

Summary:
This game focused on combating the devil apocalypse, devil spawns that roam the world looking for unfortunate human to be their meals, or something. Your objective is to find the cause of this apocalypse and put an end to it.

Started with only one base and a handful of survivor, you have to scavenge, harvest resources, planing your defense in order to protect your occultists as they are researching how to put an end to this demon scourge.

Upgrade your survivor, gear them up with the best equipment you can craft.

Gameplay & Design:
It's a survival simulator. You build your base, make improvements and then go scavenging. There's a world map with representative icons for its location. Schools, hospitals, factory, etc. You can send your survivors there but only 5 survivors could do that, stealthily gather the resources or just kill all the demons and get all the rewards, your choice. Some research breakthroughs need items that can only be obtained by scavenging.

The combat is simple, just like traditional RTS but the hitbox is too wide in my opinion and the animations are a no no. But for me, I really don't care. It's acceptable because it was overshadowed by the concept of the game. I'm not a graphic ♥♥♥♥♥ so it's okay.

Music:
The music is perfectly blend in with the atmosphere of the game, especially when you go scavenging or doing stealth mission. At first, when no enemies notice you, the music is calm and lil bit eeire, but when you see an enemy, but it didn't see you, the music started to play lil bit upbeating. But when an enemy spots you, the music will be very upbeating and it's like "Time for action!"

Graphic:
I dunno, it's 3D with some hand-drawn objects? I'm not quite sure, but it's look like a hand-drawn for me, especially those workbenches. Like I said before the animation is a no no, especially in combat. Walking and running animation is good though.

Enjoyment:
I'm having a blast playing this game, my playtime is only 4 hours when I write this review but I will be back for more. Having to take care of your survivors, improve them, prepare them for the upcoming battle, it's just my kind of game, and most importantly, they are randomly generated, you never know what combination of survivors you would have in your disposal. Final verdict, it's a 8/10, it's a good game.

You like Rimworld do you? You should try this one. It's in Early Access, but in the roadmap it'll be released in May 2017. Can't wait to see the finished products.

Edit: Now the release date changed into Q3 2017, they sure take their time to make it better.

It's simple:
you can't buy happiness but you can always buy this game. It's not much of a difference. This game is a roguelike, when you dead, then you dead. People dead when they are killed right?

Gameplay:
You pick a character with different set of skills, depends on what you choose, e.x a gorilla is a tough character, lots of health and delivers massive raw power. You could just smash everything that stands your way to your mission, but it couldn't speak english, so you couldn't hire someone or buy something.

The main objective of this game is to clear every levels. There are missions in a level, you must complete them all in order to advance. There are lots of ways to get it done. You could sneak past the guard and free the prisoner as mission asked, or ask no question and just hack away those guards, or poison them, hire someone to make ruckuss to distract the guards. There are many many possible way to complete your mission. Use your creativity, ideas, and lil' bit of evilness.

Score:
9/10 , it's a good game. It's in early access but I'm sure you can enjoy the content as is.

Not recommended for now,

negative first:
1. No auto attack. It's an RTS game but your unit will be idle when the enemies attacked you, so if you were swarmed by 20 enemies you basically have to click 20 times to kill them all, and more if you use skills.

2. Too many loot. Every mission will give you better loot, which is nice, but because of that you have to equip every single one of your crew in order to become efficient as the game progresses. It would be nice if there's an "equip best item" button.

3. Monotonous, you beamed down, complete mission, equip loot, repeat until you finish your game.

positive:
1. Procedural generation, no two playthroughs are the same.

2. Many mission variety like collect something, defend something from certain waves, kill bosses, etc. Well I said monotonous before but it's about the gameplay not the mission variety.

3. Beautiful graphic, it's in pixel but some are not I think. But the aesthetic has worked so well in my opinion. Snowy planet with cyborg's bases in it. Desert planet, temprate forest, the monsters, the mechas, it's like you really go adventure in a beautiful sci fi world.

This review might change to positive if my 1st point in negative has been taken care of.

RimWorld, yeah...

It's a colony building game. You start with a few people but with them, you have to maintain a colony until you can build a spaceship to escape RimWorld.

It's not only about building your colony, but also a management. You stranded in a strange planet, in order to build spaceship, you have to research technologies, in order to research technologies you have to first settle yourself, securing food supply, build shelters, plan your defense against raiders or the dangers of nature like seasonal change, cold, or heat waves.

The events on this game are managed by an AI Storyteller. The AI decides which event would suit your colony most, is it time to create disaster? is it time to give bonuses with drop pods from space? is it time to create drama? an affair to a married couple? Anything can happen while you busy managing your colony.

My favorite AI Story teller is Randy Random. He's random, unpredictable, and cruel. He doesn't care about you at all. He throws any event as he pleases, sometimes good and sometimes bad.

Let's say there's an event when you had a choice whether to save a damsel who being chased by pirate raiders. You saved her and killed the pirates. She joined your colony and seems to be having a good life until it's too late. She is an alcoholic-drug-addict damsel, and when she lacks drugs she became mad and start shooting people.
Your colonits go down one by one by her madness as you watched hopelessly in front of your monitor, and finally she killed herself by striping naked in a cold freezer. Then you started thinking that resciung people is a bad idea.

So, are you up to challenge? What story will unfold as you play the game? Can you escape RimWorld? Can you handle the dramas?

Just buy the game and find out!

> buy darkest dungeon
> forming a party
> enter the dungeon
> one of the patry member got "abusive" trait and starts sprouting nonsense, increasing other party member's stress
> everybody is so stressful, and starting to have a heart attack
> most of the party members died of heart attack
> abandon quest, get loot

10/10 to send another weaklings again. The weak is meant to die right?

It's like an XCOM, Master of Orion and Final Fantasy merged together. What? Final fantasy?... Yes final fantasy. The battle is not so different and there are similar classes like Knights, Acolytes, Rogues. The difference is it's a class for a starship not a person.

This game has setting of a Master of Orion, re-conquer planets and space battles and have the concept of an XCOM, by fending off an alien invasion, in this case the galaxy. The battle is just like Final Fantasy or any old JRPG, side-view.

Fun part of this game is about planning and composing your fleet to your playstyle. Are you a healer? who prefer to stay as long as possible in the battlefield, taking out your enemies little by little, or a nuker? ignoring the defense and just blast your enemies away? or a disabler? disable your enemies so they have no opportunities to fight back?... there are many playstyles within this game and I found it fun.

The base building is okay, it's just like an XCOM ant farm base building. You have to excavate the room before you decide to use it. But beware, you might got an encounter with an alien.

The research is instantly done as long as you have the resources which is a little chore. You have to visit a colony or complete a mission to obtain them.

Anyway, the game is fun and enjoyable so far. But it's so short. Well, you know it's still in an early access.

Game:
It's a turn-based-strategy with procedurally generated map. You start with 2 hero character and later you can hire 2 companions as your reputation progresses. The battle consist of three phase: movement(1), utility(2), and attack(3). During movement phase you can move your character and perform some movement skill. Utility phase is where you apply some buffs or debuffs, then attack phase, is where you attack your enemies 'youdontsay.jpg'

In the strategic layer, you move your ship in the sea full of procedurally generated islands with random stories when you land in one of them. Every stories has encounter and it has some rewards, but beware, you might end up in battle or you can get away with your negotiation skills.

Art:
The art is cartoony, but I like it.

Sound/Music:
The music is great, the tense, the calmness, those music just match the scenes. The sounds is normal, not bad.

Story:
It has multiple endings. But I only have discovered 2 of the endings. The premise is the heroes embark on a journey searching for a magically-powerful disc in a world where 6 races are battling each other, to finish your journey you should join one of the 6 races.

Enjoyment:
Well I found enjoyment in this game by combining classes and recruit different companions. Every characters has its own set of skills which could change your play-style.

Score:
I'd say 8/10
