While I appreciate what the dev has created with Raycasting Game Maker, which uses the same technology as old Wolfenstein games, I simply cannot recommend this based on lack of content:
  • Only 4 levels, which took me under an hour to beat. The level design was ok, but each level seemed to get shorter with just more enemies thrown in.
  • 3 weapons: pistol, machine gun, and shot gun - they all use the same ammo
  • 4 types of enemies with no boss fight
  • Few textures which were only displayed in shades of red
  • No story - the games begins with the player having a headache and abruptly ends with something like "Your headache is going away."
I like the voice acting and atmosphere. The music was good as well, but I feel like I have heard it in another game. It just played more like a tech demo than something that should be sold.

This appears to be an asset flip of Smash Way : Hit Pyramids[assetstore.unity.com]. It seems to have been a mobile game and little effort was made to adapt it to the PC as it still has wording such as “Tap screen to reset.” The achievements are also broken and the developer has known about it for over a month now with no fixes.

The first game was just ok, but this one was even worse. It's a lot shorter (only 30 levels) and I was able to finish it in under 2 hours, before any card drops. The level design wasn't as good and nothing new was introduced that wasn't in the last game. The only Pro I can think of is the music was slightly better.

I forced myself to play through this entire game, expecting some challenging puzzles, but there are few to be had. The majority of the challenge and frustration exists due to a fundamentally broken system. The developer’s lack of any replies on the forum just adds to the sense that this was a half attempt at a game that he himself did not think it was worthy of his time to bother playing it through before selling it.
Pros:
-Skip level feature.
-Working achievements.
-Handful of levels are nicely designed with a puzzle to solve.
Cons:
-Changing the quality setting in the game actually changes the way the ball moves. That’s right - some levels are easier or near impossible based on the set video quality.
-Next button at the end of the stage sometimes skips ahead to some random level. I guess that could be a pro for speed-running it.
-Using Continue from the main menu takes longer to load the level than selecting it from the level select menu.
-The pause menu doesn’t actually pause the game, it just stops the ball’s movement, but then gravity still has an effect and brings it down.
-Closing the pause menu has to be done with the mouse and it moves the camera while doing so.
-The camera defaults to a view where the ball is not in full view and you have to readjust the camera every time.
-False advertising – the store page claims there are 8 unlockable skins, but these are nowhere to be seen in the game, even after completing all of the levels.
-Broken levels. One level in particular, 31, has a rotating staircase that does not allow the player to ever make it to the top. I wasted at least an hour of my time before realizing that it just wasn’t going to happen.

I really wanted to enjoy this game, but not possible in its current state.

This a fraudulent game with the illusion of actual content. It has 8 Steam Achievements, each for completing one of the 8 chapters, however, the statistics suggest no one actually can obtain them - the 0.3% usually indicates they were just unlocked using the Steam Achievement Manager outside of the actual game.

The developer is very intelligent and puts so much effort into keeping up the smoke and mirrors act that it's hard to believe he doesn't spend time creating anything. All of his answers and explanations come down to circular reasoning. For instance, people bring up the fact that there are no actual clues in the game so he created a starter guide to give clues to make the game a bit easier. The starter guide then refers back to the game for clues. I pressed him for more information and he referred me to look at the images on the trading cards and better yet, referred me back once again to the guide, which he 'updated'.

He did the same thing with the game itself by releasing a "Major Bug Fix #1" which adds "new hints across the forest." But wait, "if you have difficulties of finding them, check the Starters Guide."

It's all in plain site if you look past the nonsense. The video and screenshots on the store page are all from chapter 1. Same thing with the images on the trading cards. All the content that exists in this game is you move around as a blob of light within a very small map, where a few light sources toggle on and off globally upon hitting the "E" key. There is no actual interaction with anything in the environment. There is no story. There really isn't even a Chapter 1.

Even the beginning of the game states:
"Where should I seek the path?
Clues are worthless...
Maybe if I think harder?
The easiest solution is sometimes the answer..."

He admits at the very beginning that any hints or clues are meaningless and the solution is the answer because the answer is the solution. The game play is literally going around in circles looking for clues because the game tells you to.
