I play Civilization when I'm sick with the flu. I play Civilization when I'm snowed in. I play Civilization when ever I damn please, because I always have a great time and OH MY GOD MOTHER I JUST NEED ONE MORE TURN TO GET MY NEW SCIENCE ADVANCEMENT.

Crack is addictive, Civilization is addictiver.

Solid 10/10

Action-filled! Mechanics-driven! Tons of guns!.......are none of the phrases I'd use to describe this game.

The basic premise is that you drove you car (partially) off a cliff and you must to figure out what you must do to escape your predicament. To appreciate Far From Noise, set aside about and hour and half, as it's definitely a slower-paced game. Nevertheless, the experience is phenomenal and the message will cut you to the bone. Yay existentialism!

8/10 highly recommend.

Distraint is like a modern day Christmas Carol, minus the Christmas theme. The basic moral is: don't be a greedy butthole, don't kick little old people out of their apartments, nursing homes suck, and use items on everything. EVERYTHING. If you use the items you collect on everything you cant interact with, you can get all the achievements in one playthrough.

While the story is pretty predictable and the mechanics are average, the game is comedic enough to carry the player to the end. 6/10 would recommend, but pick it up when it's on sale.

Basically Minecraft, minus one dimension.

If you're going to spend a lot of time in a game, then Terraria is a good place to spend it. The developers are very devoted to maintaining the game as well as creating new content.

There are so many rouge-like games on Steam that finding a suitable one to play seems like a serious investment of time and money. Rest assured however, if you have purchased TELEGLITCH: Die More Edition because it is FUN and CHALLENGING. Enemies seem to know when you're low on ammo and supplies, and they'll come at you like a raging swarm of bees. You better be good with a mouse or you won't last very long. A nice feature of the game not featured in other rogue-likes is the level saving system. Initially you'll always start at level one however, if you manage to make it to say, level five, the next time you die and load the game again you'll have the option of starting at level one or three.

Aside from mechanics, one thing I really like about this game is the lore. TELEGLITCH could have easily been just another sci-fi flavoured rogue-like, but the world building really sets it apart. Imagine if a defense contractor like Blackwater or Lockheed Martin acquired the technology to reanimate corpses. That's pretty much what Militech, the in-game shady military research firm, is all about. Data logs scattered throughout the levels document the processes of creating, maintaining and interacting with the undead. Most data logs are disturbing. Some are side-splittingly funny. Finding all the data logs and reading through them is just as a potent motivation to get to the next level as the enemies that chase you.

9/10 would highly recommend.

Orwell: Keeping an Eye On You is one of the most compelling, contemporary games available on Steam. Without pandering to any particular side, Orwell allows the player to explore the pros, cons, and grey areas of state-sanctioned surveillance. I highly recommend if you're into complex stories and games with multiple endings. I also recommend this game if you have a busy life and can only play short segments at a time...and don't want to be caught dead with Candy Crush or Bubble Witch Saga at the top of your play-time list.

The only downside is that the game involves a lot (and I mean a LOT) of text. You're going to be doing a lot of reading. However, it's largely digestible because text is separated into news articles, web pages, and timelines (much like Facebook).

Orwell is worth the buy, even if it's not on sale. 8/10 would recommend.

ITSP was a great, challenging game. Beautiful visuals, intelligent boss fights. Then I got to the part with the rocket puzzles and rage quit.

I haven't touched the game for over two years.

Doki Doki Literature Club is the perfect antidote to all those angry, depressing shooters that saturate Steam! It has cute anime characters, funny writing, and an adorable mascot! I would recommend Doki Doki to anyone who plays games, likes anime, or just needs something uplifting to brighten their world. 10/10 GOTY
