The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 + Unofficial Expansion

Description
A 4-8 player (better with 6-8) hidden identity game where one player starts as an imitation. Humans progress by completing missions, fighting the Thing, and reaching the escape helicopter (and bringing only humans on board). Imitations, meanwhile, sabotage missions to increase the infection tracker, or try to make it inside the escape helicopter without being discovered. Be careful: if the humans are too successful finishing missions, more blood tests will be available to test those escaping in the helicopter! And as the team clears its way through the outpost, they expose themselves to the Thing and more players risk becoming imitations. Will you know who to trust?

Collector's Edition Update (4/10/20): Thanks goes to SHODANFreeman for making it possible to add the Collector's Edition content.

BIG UPDATE (8/10/19): Thanks to some amazing and hard work by Michael Phelpz, pretty much every part of this mod has been improved.

- Completely reworked unofficial expansion with new cards and game mechanics
- Added mission trackers to better keep track of results from each mission
- Added section for voting. Used for escape phase or torching a player
- Added some snow particles and a new background
- New Helicopter figurine
- Added “Roll” button for dice with a “dice tracker” for re-rolls.
- Scripted player avatars to appear as customized tokens and movers
- Segmented Rec Room to help when selecting mission teams.

As always, feedback and ideas are welcome! If anything is unclear about how the game plays or how some of the TTS elements work, just leave a comment down below.

If you get the chance, thank Michael Phelpz for putting a lot of work into this update/mod. Have fun!

For anyone who just wants the basic setup of the game and no scripting, here you go: https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1833127677

Creator's Note: Obviously I have nothing to do with this game professionally. I am merely a fan who noticed no one had ported it into Tabletop Simulator. I make no claim of ownership of any of the material herein.

I don't think this works anymore, it says the folder sent to steam is empty?

@Drante Should be working now without any errors appearing. Just some old models needed deleting or updating, and I had to switch to a generic background. Gameplay remains unaffected. Hope you keep enjoying the mod!

Hi - When I launch it in TTS, it keeps asking me to import some figure data and background data but when I hit import, nothing happens

@GoldOak Apologies for the late reply. Unfortunately, it has been quite some time since I messed with that expansion. I don't remember much more than the information on the player aid we made.
As far as making it more than 10 players: you can do that by going into system chat and typing "host_max_players X", X being the number of players. Note that that only allows more players to join the server; TTS only supports up to 10 seated players, so 2 could only spectate.

Hello, Is there anyway to add new seats and new areas to add up to 12 players. Play this every week and my group wants to attempt a custom version I made with all the characters to increase the diffculty for the humans. Also how do you included the unoffical expansion even in the normal player count of up to 8?

Sorry if I was unclear but the mission logs at the bottom are not scripted. It's the avatar tokens that are scripted; they should automatically create themselves when a player enters, but that's it. The rest is there as a completely optional tracking system for the players to manually interact with.

You use it by taking those avatar tokens that spawn and dropping them into the infinite bags so that you have an endless supply of each one. After a mission ends, place its Mission Log card in the white space above the next tracking sheet. Use the "marker tallies" (simple black tokens) to mark whether the mission passed/failed/was sabotaged, and use those player avatar tokens to track who was Captain and who was on the Mission Team (Crew).

Or just in general, any scripts explanation would be much appreciated

Hey, got a question: how exactly do you get mission logs at the bottom working?
David C  [author] 26 Mar, 2022 @ 6:30pm
@Prosnype The scripting is limited to mission tracking tokens and some dice rolling buttons, and that is it. I personally do not know how to write more complex scripts like setup would probably require, but I definitely streamlined a few setup steps (such as the Assimilation decks).

Thanks, and hope you enjoy the game!
Prosnype 26 Mar, 2022 @ 10:10am
Is the scripting only responsible for keeping track of the mission history? I was just wondering if any scripts were available to make the setup and gameplay quicker (such as the process of moving the appropriate pawns to a room, etc). Great mod btw.
