Description

for Victoria 3 1.9.*

Hail, Columbia! is a United States Flavor Pack, including overhauled and expanded journal entries, interest groups, and characters, as well as tons of new events unique to the USA and North America.

Requires the Community Mod Framework. Load this mod after (below) the CMF in your load order.

  • Overhauled map of Native North America, including many more indigenous nations than vanilla, as well as new state traits. Claims are assigned appropriately to prevent weird colonization. The American west will take much longer to be fully colonized by the United States than in vanilla.
  • Overhauled Indian Removal and Indian Wars content, with custom Journal Entries, expanded events, and new characters extending Indian history up to the 1900s: Seminole Wars, Oregon Trail, Red Cloud's War, the Ghost Dance, the Sequoyah Constitution.
  • Overhauled Slavery Debate JE, including the full historical lead-up to the civil war: Missouri Compromise, Wilmot Proviso, Compromise of 1850, Kansas-Nebraska Act, Bleeding Kansas, Scott v Sandford. The civil war can be triggered at different times or be split along different borders based on the results.
  • Overhauled Reconstruction content with new events and several final outcomes. Station federal troops in the south to enforce equality for the Freedmen, or make a deal with the devil and give the Redeemers free reign to impose Jim Crow.
  • Gilded Age JE showing the rise of corruption and Trusts in the United States, followed by the Progressive Era of reform and new ideologies.
  • New permanent journal entry for the US tracking the influence of Manifest Destiny. You can choose to avoid expansion and entanglements, stick to the historical borders, or promote Manifest Destiny to new heights and incorporate the entire continent into your great republic.
  • Mormon content, including the exodus to Deseret and the Utah War.
  • New flavor events for the US, such as the Seneca Falls Convention and the Great Chicago Fire, as well as various american natural disasters like wildfires and tornadoes. The mod includes over 100 new events in total.
  • Overhauled Ideologies and Traits for American IGs, including new alternate IG Traits unlocked during a playthrough.
  • Historical agitators, commanders, and politicians for America, including every historical president from Martin Van Buren to FDR.
  • New flavored companies for the USA including DuPont, Sears, and Coca-Cola, along with some new Prestige Goods and Executives.
  • Tweaks to the american political system, including a Term Limit for presidents, dynamic party names, and Constitutional precedents.

  • More Social & Political Movements (Third Great Awakening, Social Gospel)
  • More Economic & Labor Events (Coal Wars, Roaring 20s, Panics)
  • More Foreign Policy Events (Great White Fleet, Panama Rebellion)
  • Post-Reconstruction Black History (NAACP, Great Migration, Harlem Renaissance)
  • Alternate History Content (CSA Victory, FSA, United Syndicates, Turtle Island)

Currently includes English, Korean, and German localizations. English text will be displayed for other languages. Feel free to create translations and upload them as seperate mods or send them my way.

@garrzz Jim Crow gets blocked in states with > 60% Afro-American population, so its possible you ended up with an Afro-American minority in every state. I might want to reduce that threshold if its too hard to reach.

@CaelReader Weird, the only other mod i have is morgenrote, which the description says should be compatible

Hey, just reporting a potential bug. I got 80% progress with reconstruction before it timed out, and the event descriptions said the south was divided between free states and Jim Crow states. Despite this, *every* southern state was hit with the permanent Jim Crow modifier. What is in error here, the event description or the modifiers?

@Bananaman can't replicate, sounds like a mod conflict

It also seems like something with colonising in general broke from that event, as my colonies in Nebraska and Minnesota keep getting abandonned halfway through colonising a province.

Where should i post questions about potential bugs for you to see? In my game i got the Horse Creek treaty to give me and british columba the provinces along the oregon trail, but the day afterwards my half all goes back to the natives for some reason, even if i start colonising immediatly. I have tried both options in the event but in both cases my half gets decolonised.

@Ahriman Ah. No, that kind of province-level border negotiation is not a priority for me, especially where it would create tiny non-viable split states.

@CaelReader I should've probably clarified that I meant for the diplomatic side of things since there at least 3 different proposals on how to settle it without war. The first one being the one we got irl, the second being the border following the 49th parallel all the way through Vancouver island, and the third following 49th until it hits the Columbia river and then following that to the Pacific

@Sidatarias For ideological reasons, the Douglass update adding post-reconstruction Black history must come first. Then maybe after that I'll add CSA content. I expect CSA players will not like what I have in store for them.

@Pamparampampamparam They use the new Law Variants system added in 1.9 which means all existing ideologies automatically treat them as the original law for opinion purposes.
