Very fun mod.
I have a question about hero monsters spawn rate. I'm playing on x4 modifier and I feel like hero monsters don't really spawn that often. Am I'm being unlucky or it's something else?
Can my character lvl affect the spawn rate of monster heroes? Because I started epic difficulty with lvl 25 character. Or it doesn't matter?
The reason I'm asking is that I also play the mobile version of the game and it has a built-in difficulty modifier. Playing the game on x5 modifier makes monster heroes a common occasion which i find quite fun and challenging.
I want to see heroes spawn rate closer to that in mobile version. Can I adjust the spawn rates my self or what can you suggest me?
The gorgon queens are surprisingly easy on Epic and Legendary difficulty, but on Normal you don't have a build going yet so you're very limited in what you can do.
4GB patch does seem to have helped the stuttering though, unless I just haven't triggered whatever causes the stuttering yet.
Not throwing in the towel yet. But sheesh. Also, I've noticed the game starts stuttering after a bit, presumably from the extra spawns, as it wasn't doing it before. I think I saw a 4GB patch somewhere.. think it'd help with this mod?
So my recommendations are to play on x5 instead of xMax+, as it's extremely similar except x5 isn't as demanding for your hardware and the engine, and avoids the occasional superdense clusters of mobs which stress the engine to its limits. It's almost the same challenge but less buggy.
I also recommend x3 because at that point some of the RNG and spawn variety is preserved. The level range of bosses is properly randomized, it's still a coin flip whether heroes are going to spawn, and you never quite know how many champions you will be facing. x5 produces much more consistent results with heroes spawning almost every time. It's also much more balanced to play on x3 as you can still engage with mechanics instead of being forced to ignore mechanics and overpower your way through.
The original xMax and this mod's xMax both set the spawn multiplier to 10x. The reason it's only theoretical is that the pools of mobs usually don't contain 10 different mobs for it to spawn. Nothing has changed in that regard from the original to here. It does appear that maybe (?) the bug has a higher chance of occurring if you play on a high spawn multiplier like xMax+, but ultimately it can happen even on x2. I think it might have something to do with how many entities the game needs to keep in RAM, but I'm not sure. It's very difficult to troubleshoot when it can't be reproduced consistently enough to test it, and no long-term changes seem to have any effect. I've gone over every little thing that's even remotely related to it - multiple times over several years - to no avail.
The issue is hard to explain and isn't something that can be easily resolved, unfortunately. The first time you load certain bosses, there's a chance that they don't spawn. It's only possible the first time you load them on a character. You did not need to turn the difficulty down to fix the bug, you only needed to reload the game.
I should stress that it doesn't happen very often. It can happen in the original xMax too and appears to be a bug in the engine.
