Not bad!

I didnt like the lack of antines though.

Maybe you ought to play more user-made maps before you make statements like "hidden antlines are used a lot in tests to make it harder". I have played hundreds of tests and the vast majority either have antlines or icon labels tying switches, lasers and buttons to the elements they activate.

And I stand by what I said: the most talented maps designers don't need to resort to this approach to make their puzzles challenging. In fact, some of the most challenging tests have no elements at all: Momentum by Mevious is a great example of such a test.

The idea that I can't produce a valid critique of a puzzle because I " obviously don't know enough about making tests" makes as much sense as telling someone they can't tell healthy teeth from bad teeth because they're not a dentist.

Your previous comment made absolutely no sense, that's why I said what I said. Hidden antlines are used used a lot in tests to make it harder. It's not a bad design praticce. You obviously don't know enough about making tests.

So the only people allowed to comment on your "tests" are those who know something about "making tests"? Even if you had your wish, I don't think that would garantee that they wouldn't make the same observations as I did.

Hidden antlines are the whole point of the test. Seriously, if you don't know anything about making tests, then don't say anything at all.

Hidden antlines used to artificially make an easy puzzle more difficult to solve.... tsk tsk. Bad design practice and a cheap-ass trick. True quality maps don't need to hide antlines (links) to elements in order to be challenging.

I suggest you study the map from the masters (Mevious, Ben77, Azorae, Tmast98, LoneWolf and others) and learn from them. The cube cleaning thing was original however... just not very elegant.

Dven, you need to clean the cube to use it effectively. It simply won't stay still on the button if you don't. Also, I'm making the eight test.

I used the cube still covered with gel and couldn't figure out what it did beside release the cleaner which I didn't seem to need. I portalled around the laser grid today so that isn't fixed. (I thought that was the correct solution)

Clever way to clense the cube and a tricky exit! Fun!

I had no idea what the cleaning gel was for until I read this. So apparently if I had tried to just use the cube before cleaning it would have bounced off the button right.

Weird map.

Bugs fixed, so no more laser grid cheating.

Thank you for your comments, I will fix those bugs soon, but I am extremely busy making other tests.

An improvement on Part 1, though it has some issues as others noted. I would add that when you have a button on a timer it's a good idea to give the player a visual or audible clue that it is, in fact, a timer and the activation is about to shut off.

I agree with both Annie's and wildgoosespeeder about hiding the links, definitely a bad idea. It just made it take longer until you figured out what activated what, which made an otherwise fun chamber slightly frustrating. and yes you can just portal through the laser grid at the exit.

Still gave it a thumbs up for the interesting ideas you had.
Sentry Gun 30 Jan, 2015 @ 7:04pm
Simple. I liked it. The laser grid at the end was useless since you can just portal through it. As wildgoosespeeder said, hiding links was not a good idea. I liked the momentum self-fling that I had to do and cleaning the cube was a neat idea.
Rusty Shackleford 30 Jan, 2015 @ 6:08pm
where you supossed to just fizzle cube to get a clean one becasue that made to cleaning gel useless

DISCLAIMER:
Read my profile before reading the rest of my comment!

The laser field makes no sense blocking the exit door! I can just use portals to bypass disabling it (as I saw it can be disabled). Your chamber is prone to "portal bumping" (Google it).

This puzzle makes no sense as you turned it into a mindless guessing game by hiding links! That isn't a good idea because of my antline guide and someone else's thread I will reference here (read up on those):

I will say that cleaning the cube was interesting as I never saw that before. Everything else was not good.
